I've always made a habit of mounting single din iso radios back about a half inch back and using the trim ring. Keeps the faceplate flush with the pocket and dash instead of having it stick out.
Hope he got you an extra case of beer for effing up that factory harness. The most fun is toning out the speakers and making sure they don't get out of phase. Gotta love the 9V test ![]()
