Why Friends DO NOT let friends install car audio.

I am not trying to scare anyone, but I was contacted about 4 weeks ago about some problems with a install. So I went over everything with him and talked it over. He wanted everything redone considering it was not working at all and his dash light were not working as well. So today I he pulled in had everything ready to go. So here is why you do not let friends do installs.

How so?

Nice to see that you were able to correct that horrible installation. The cut wires, complete with wire nuts looked awful. How did that all fit back behind the dash? I had a '92 Legacy years ago that I put a 6-disc changer in, and even with the Scosche adapters and small crimped wire connections, it was difficult to get everything to fit back in again.

Yes everything came out well, the wires all fit behind there nicely lots of space.

He got at my house around 11 and we had to head to walmart

Yeah I have encountered many a cut harness, its always off to Best Buy or Walmart. I learned at 16 to do my own installs, and it absolutely amazes me the stuff that people do to their, or other peoples cars.

When my fiancee and I first got together, she had/still has a 92' Camry. The rear factory speakers were shot so I decided to install a set of 3 way pionner 6x9's I had.
The install for those entails removing the back seats, and rear dash because they are drop in. A (dumb) friend stopped by, had been drinking a bit and decided he wanted to help on the install.

Next thing I know he has his pocket knife out, and was trying to pry up the stock speak grills in the rear dash.

I'm like WTF?!? and he argues that it would be easier to get to the speakers by removing the the factory grill by prying it up with a pocket knife.

He was promptly asked to leave. :D

And I finished my install.

Ya I have seen a lot of cut harnesses. I wish people would know who was rely there and knew what they were doing and who dose not. I am not pointing th finger at anyone in particular. But if you do not know what you are doing and do not want to take the time to do it right, do not try to do it in the first place.

dang bro! you do good work

but cleaning up other installer wannabe's has got to piss you off...
