Winter tires and ~150 lbs in the trunk with get you partway, but past about 6 inches of accumulation you start ripping parts off the car.
Im no stranger to snow, The Mustang would do just fine in Chicago. Plows are very good in the city and burbs. I could probably drive the Z year round but I hate the salt

Roads are very different for mr. Mu in Minot. You can drive anything in Chicago.

I have to argue that a bit. As you get further from the city, the suburbs don't have the man power to clean roads right away. I often found it can take up to 6-8 hours for them to clean side streets. Whats the point of having clean main roads if I can't get out of my driveway (has happened to me). However, that will only happen at most 2-3 times per year. so In general I agree with you

I know Chicago gets pretty rough, but even the suburbs get much better care than the frozen wasteland of ND

Disclaimer: I haven't been to minot in years so my knowledge is neither recent nor fresh. I recall it being softpack on many of the roads, contrary to places like MN where you can just drive on hardpack.
