Alright, here is the APEXi throttle controller install that I have been lagging on sharing!

Here is a photo of what you get with the kit (Control Unit, toggle switch, directions, and Throttle linkage)

The controller has 7 Setting Modes: (3 ECO Modes, 2 Boost Modes, Lo-Throttle Mode, and Hi-Throttle Mode).

I have spent significant time with the Eco modes and I now drive around with the most extreme Eco modes (for stop and go traffic) and the middle Eco modes for normal driving. Freeway merging or passing I drive around in the High-boost mode and it completely opens up the power of the car and removes any lag in throttle.

I removed the Fuse panel to determine what kind of installation I could work with and realized I had a good amount of space to mount the box

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jmty8aJy5c...0/IMG_6020.JPG

First thing I did was uninstall the OEM throttle and placed the APEXi cable between the two connections

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SbH0xu53yD...0/IMG_6025.JPG

As you can see there was quite a bit of extra wiring that I tucked behind the carpet to hide

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vo0rLrKGMk...0/IMG_6028.JPG

I was then able to place the control box on an empty section of the panel (affixed with some double-sided tape)

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kq6L-45KCL...0/IMG_6031.JPG

I then focused my attention on how I was going to mount the controller switch, that is when I realized the fuse cover has a hole at the bottom which the cabling could run through

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2WaOQker5p...0/IMG_6033.JPG

Then I remounted the Fuse cover and checked all my clearances

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3KaMbZUxxQ...0/IMG_6035.JPG

Success!

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WEISSr-r4r...0/IMG_6037.JPG

Matches the interior well

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9LsdPrXDu6...0/IMG_6038.JPG

Final setup, works really well and is pretty subtle!

you shouldnt be lagging after that install...

Nice, let me see a pic of what you did.

I had to remove my OEM grille when I upgraded to the Mugen and it was a PITA for sure.

:icon17: very clever

I actually drive more in Eco mode to save gas so I make it lag intentionally ;)

I hate it when the simple stuff ends up being more complicated then it needs to be.

I really like it. CVT is responsive and there's so much more room than anticipated.

kenchan 08-28-2014 11:31 AM

i figured out how to slide that grill back onto the bumper on my '12. :ugh:

just pull up the bumper as you slide the grill in so that the grill does not clamp onto
the frame and just the bumper. i was expecting too much from this piece. :shakes head:

since it pissed me off wasting time 2 nights ago, i pulled it off again and put it back
on just for the hell of it. it took less than a minute.

kenchan 09-03-2014 10:49 AM

waizzz- when you did the throttle controller install on your GE, did you do a gas pedal reset after the install? if so, how do you do that?

thanks. :D

The cargo capacity of the Fit is incredible, I will never need an SUV

Yo Ken, you have to do a reset as shown in the manual on their website:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/manuals/electronics/smart.pdf

Checkout section #9 with the section titled "Initialization"

kenchan 09-07-2014 07:29 AM

Ahh, thanks waizzz

After some months of internal debate I have decided to run the Mugen front and rear aero pieces for the Panda.

I was able to find a local guy selling the Mugen exhaust and will get the Mugen aero later in the year and sell my Tanabe

How much are you looking to get for the Tanabe if considering shipping?

Hey David,

It would be cheaper just to get it from Amazon or Micro-Image brand new since I get a higher rate to ship it.

Rgr. I will hopefully get this sooner or later. Right now all my extra funds are tied up for Z Nationals.
