Project Mad Panda - My 2010 Taffeta White Honda Fit Sport Build

Now that my Z build is pretty much finished and I don't really want to put anymore miles on her as a daily so I decided to get a car that I could drive around town and go to the beach, was good on gas, and would still have fun in.

A little background on the car, I picked it up last Sunday, May 12th and it's a 2010 Sport with pretty low miles for almost a 3 year old car.

Overall in the week of ownership I have really enjoyed it and look forward to keeping it for awhile. This car is my daily and I normally carpool with 4 people total in my car so I can't go too crazy with the suspension or wheel & tire setup.

Anywho, here is the full list of mods as she currently sits:

Engine:
K&N drop-in filter
Mobil 1 synthetic oil & Mobil 1 Oil filter
Tanabe Touring Medallion Axle-back

Suspension:
Tanabe DF210 Springs

Wheels/Tires:
Flat Black SSR Type-F's 16x7 (+42) with limited edition center caps
KYO-EI 5mm Spacers (rear only)
Continental ContiSportContact2's 195-50-16
KYO-EI black lug nuts

Exterior:
OEM Door visors
Window tint (35% front windows, 20% rest)

Interior:
OEM Floor mats
OEM Cargo cover
OEM Cargo mat
OEM Cargo net
OEM AT Leather shift knob
Full LED bulb conversion
Sport pedals
Zeta armrest

Misc:
Beck Arnely cabin air filter
DRL fuse removed
Basix Magic Shade Super Jumbo
Micro-Image license plate frames & rear window decals
OEM Car Cover
LED License plate bulbs
Custom valet key
License plate bolts painted matte black

Props:
Thanks to Garm and Jeff at Micro Image in for the help with the car so far!

That's great to hear about the paint. I am getting pretty good with my Porter Cable so I will spend some time on it over the weekend.

The shop that I go to already has a set of sways for the GE and a DC exhaust that they are not sure will fit my car. Any idea if there is a difference between the two GD & GE exhausts?

Other than that I'm going to be good for awhile, I might end up getting black Clazzios.

 @ random orbital. :D

yah, the GD and GE are quite different, actually.

im running a tanabe muffler on my '12. model number is T70143A
it sounds good. not loud, not quiet, just right.

i forget where i bought mine... maybe it was one of the ebay stores....

it's an axle-back (muffler only) not a cat-back per amazon:

Great info, my biggest worry is if it hangs too low and this one doesn't look that low at all.

We will see what I end up with

yah, the tanabe pretty much looks factory finish and does not hang low.

the fitment is perfect and the exhaust tip is bigger than stock, and not ric0r look at all.

thing installed in like 10min. 9min was removing the stock muffler from the hangers as mine was REALLY on there snug even with WD40 sprayed into the hangers. :icon17:

Yeah no worries, there are a ton :)

kenchan 05-21-2013 06:47 PM

yah, for most people, i think it's that or greddy, or spend a tad more on a mugen.

the greddy looks too much can for me so got the tanabe. :)

I really like the HKS and it looks like the DC that I had my eye on is for a GD so I can just wait for a little bit.

I took apart my dash and replaced the lens cover tonight, it was completely scratched from the previous owner :shakes head:

nice job on the cluster lens replacement.

yah, some of those 'detailing' places including the dealer's detailers uses those grit filled towels to wipe the interior glass and the lens. is just scratches the hell out of the soft lens. :(

That's exactly what I believe happened.

At least I know it's an easy fix so I can do it again down the line

kenchan 05-22-2013 04:42 PM

yah, ive been VERY CAREFUL only to use clean glass mf towels when i wipe the lens.

Little update, ordered the OEM cover and was surprised that it was a pretty legit Kimberly Clarke Evolution cover

This is not the cheesy OEM covers that you get with most cars, this is a really good aftermarket one but it still has the Fit logo on it. I was also worried that it would be blue like the one in the brochures but as you can see it's just a mellow sliver.

so do you keep the cover in a tote bag in the car, or just fold it and toss it in your garage when not in use? :)

saber 06-03-2013 02:31 PM

OEM stuff and Mobil 1 oil / oil filter made it onto the mods list :shakes head:

I have a clean surface in the garage where I keep my covers. It's funny that both covers are in the garage since both the Z and my Fit are dirty :icon17:

The panda is certified used sir so everything listed is what I bought after I took delivery of the car. It had none of the items that I listed so thus by definition it is a modification.

Fifi- remind me if you got the Tanabe exhaust on the Rex? I know you had the springs but not sure about your exhaust

:icon18: hahaha. that is funny.

yah, i use mobil1 (silver cap) and factory filters on all my cars.

i think the fit's filter is the same as the ones used on the G35/350Z/370Z :)

I do too, normally I can get 5 qts of M1 & the M1 filter for about $32 from Pep Boys. The filter is in fact the same size so it makes it even easier for me to remember when I have to change it.

that's a great price on the filter and jug!

my 09 uses 5w20 but i think my '12 uses 0w20 or something which i dont think is part of that $25 deal at walmart for the 5qt jug.

cool, the tanabe muffler is pretty good, i like the sound. i like my swift springs though. in my area the tanabe's paint chipped away in 3months when i had it on my first Fit back 6yrs ago.

I will be using a 5w20, thanks for reminding me what it was.

How accurate do you believe the maintenance reminder is? Is it based on mileage or how you drive the car?

i think it goes by rpm and milage through some algorithm. i only change oil when it's showing 5% or less.

one time on my 2008 (sold already) i took it down to -500 :rofl2:
