The nismo should have been stiffer, yet 30-60lbs lighter. HP should have been closer to 370hp, not 350. The juke CVT, really doesn't affect it's performance too much. You have to drive it to see how the CVT is programmed to operate in the juke. From a enthusiast perspective, most are quick to shoot down CVT. I'd hate it in the Z. But in a juke. It doesn't hurt the car that much. But I can't understand why the 6M is only for the FWD versions. I think the transmission choice for that vehicle will change for next gen. It seems there is enough criticism on the CVT for nissan to do something about it... Eventually... Probably once interest is lost in new changes. lol...

I think it's great news and shows Nissan actually implementing the whole concept instead of an afterthought. They don't invest this much into a project for minor body work to existing models. Hopefully they follow the AMG and M divisions into producing cars worth mentioning. The Juke and Z, although bear the Nismo name, seem like a start, not an endgame. Don't forget, both aren't exactly new models. If they are designing the next gen Z, it's perfect timing for the new division to get its mojo working on premium high performance models.
Also, I thought they did bring out limited run track versions of the GTR...and when did the GTR become a car that wasn't track ready?

the current track edition offers some very subtle differences from the regular GTR. It has a 22 lbs (33lb difference from premium) weight savings with a special suspension special seats and brake cooling ducts. |

In short, I want a driver's car with decent creature comforts. It's time for a NAV system design update, time for more upscale materials in the interior (polymer developments, etc. make this possible over time without increasing cost), time to fix the weight distribution, time to improve rebound control, maybe an optional MRC type suspension like GM and all the other high-end manufacturers have gone to on their sports cars. GM owns suspension development. Nissan has piggy-backed on Ford for help with their GT-R engine, they need to hit GM up for some suspension tips. My observations/perceptions tell me this car when pushed to its limit, is as exciting or even more exciting than an N/A RWD. But that is just an observation that i won't push as anything more. 3800lbs is kind of heavy, but this things are still pretty well balanced and boost really pushes this car hard. The AWD system on the Gt-R allows it some RWD capability. I would like to see some weight reduction on this car. 3500-3600lbs but, People that drive it never say it feels heavy. I'm sure weight reduction would just make it that much sicker. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 02-26-2013 at 09:48 AM. |
