The Dark Side is Calling..
I was just browsing YouTube videos and came across the 2013 Mustang GT. for this new model, they get a bump to 420hp and 380tq. I'm really liking the Recaro seats options and the Brembo brake packages. I don't really care for the premium package with leather and upgraded sound system. So I went to ford's website and priced one out.
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/acb028c4.jpg It comes out to be around the price of a Base + SP 370z. Which is not bad for the amount of performance that you get. One more thing that is really tempting is that Ford is offering 0% financing for 60 months on the 2013 Mustang. Sigh...what to do? :ugh2: |
it's definitely tempting. i've been fighting the urge to price one out myself. now i know :\
|
I also hear that Nissan is also offering 0% financing on the 2012 370z just to compete with Ford. Don't know if it's true, but Nissan is lacking against Ford.
|
thats good pricing on the mustang..and you can mos def add power to the car.
|
You should expect to pay invoice or less. I'd imagine that car would sell for 32k or less.
|
this is the one my dad and brother ordered... the dealer screwed up and left off the recaros so they refused it.... the dealer is putting in a rush order basically saying they screwed up and the new one be here in 4 weeks... something about the option code for the seats changed and he put in the old code and the factory left it off
those seats are gonna make such a difference i dont blame them for not taking it it was terrible timing he sold his 2005 mustang just yesterday http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...01984&refid=FD |

Hmm so the car guzzles more gas, doesn't look as nice, in a few months you'll see one on every block, and last time I checked the speed limit hadn't been raised so unless you plan on tracking the car what's the allure of the huge HP bump? Racing people off of stop lights?
I really don't understand in this day and age why people are still so gaga over horsepower. Anything over 350hp for a daily driver is really unnecessary unless you're on the autobahn. Sorry just my 2 cents... |

And don't for a second think I'm joking! ;)
If the guy wants to change things up, let him. I swear some owners here get so butthurt when ANY other car is mentioned as a possible competitor. Just chill. It's all gravy. :icon17: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_N0TSGcQUzg...5dc3b-orig.jpg |
Priced a 2012 gt base last week.....under $25k.....under 27k with brembo package. Hard to pass up. 3k off till April 16th

Cars lighter than 3,000 lbs. can make due with 100-200 horsepower, but could use more. |
This isn't really news. The Mustang was always priced this reasonably for that much performance.
It's a nice car. Personally, I wouldn't want to take the depreciation hit on trading my Z. It's two years old, just went over 20k on the odo, and it's paid off. If I had never bought the Z, I might have bought a Mustang. |

After sitting in a few, no way would i ever trade a Z for it. Maybe for the boss, but even with that I don't ever see this thing feeling as nice as the Z.

Was it really that bad? I've never driven one so I would love to know why you would say that. |

Yea I'll go in for a test drive this weekend to have a personal opinion of it. Are the 2013's even out yet?

The Mustang will feel heavier and a little bigger because, well, it's heavier and a little bigger. ;) If you drive one you need to drive it for a while because if you are not used to driving heavier cars it's going to take a bit of time to acclimate yourself before you can actually get a feel for how it handles. Another thing to consider on your test drive is Sport Mode. To activate, hold the brake and quickly tap the traction control button twice. This will tighten up the steering and the traction and stability control systems give you far more liberty. It's a fairly intelligent system that will let you spin the tires without killing power and gives you several degrees of yaw before it starts to intervene. Makes things more fun and lets you keep a safety net in case you mess up. Bottom line is it's different. But it is very much at home on a twisty road. The extra power is just a plus. |

I would argue that anything over 200hp is unnecessary for a daily driver. All of your Z's are unnecessary! :p
|
Steve, why did you get rid of your 370z?

You didn't have any problems with your Z when you still had it right? Was it Red Zed who had some issues with his?
|
I agree that there are mustangs everywhere and I dont see a lot of 370 which I like BUT everyone will have a 370 when the price drops just like everyone has the 350 now. A bunch of mustangs I see are v6 and it's more rare to see a v8 5.0 which is what I would get. I really used to hate mustangs but they have grown on me recently and not to mention are more mod friendly. (I've never owned an American car so itd be a first)
|
I had some issues, but I think he had some more serious ones. I had the ECU whine and the throttle lag/bogging. They probably contributed somewhat to my decision but definitely weren't the driving force.
