I can see that. Idk how though because the 370 looks years better than a 350.

People had more money to spend back in the early 2000's. Now people are broke; losing their jobs and homes. Sports car is not so popular today compared to the 350z days. Housing market crashed in 2008, 370z released in 2009 - not good.

TongMan 03-22-2012 08:54 AM

I forgot to mention gas prices more than doubled.

864Zbeast 03-22-2012 08:56 AM

I agree with that. Makes sense.

nepali 03-22-2012 08:58 AM

It will be a while before 370z is as popular as, if not more than, 350z.

b1adesofcha0s 03-22-2012 09:09 AM

There were also much fewer 370Z's produced than 350Z's so it will never really be as popular.

m4a1mustang 03-22-2012 09:35 AM

Correct. The 350Z sold somewhere on the order of 30k units a year.

The 370Z sold ~10k in the first year and is averaging 7-8k for each year after that. It's just not the same market it was so it's not going to be as popular as the 350.

Must not turn to darkside....

All I can think of is yoda accent.

Actually, the reason the 350Z sold so well was on the reputation of the 2004 1/2 model......flawless!

:iagree:irrefutable logic.

I blame some of the 370z's slow numbers on poor advertising. It was released when the culture of advertising PR was based around eco vehicles and crossovers.

Good. I hated seeing all those riced out 350Z's and kids driving G35's. I hope the 370 never becomes popular like the 350:stirthepot:

Actually there is some truth in that...for the most part the 370z has been sold a more mature crowd.

864Zbeast 03-22-2012 08:29 PM

I really don't want the 370 to turn into the 350. I don't want to drive a car with such a reputation of a riced out 350 even though I am a youngster. I really cannot stand seeing riced out cars especially a z. But to each their own I GUESS...

Yup. I have always been worried that in a couple years time the 370z would end up being like the 350, i.e., I would start seeing them all over the place being driven by the type person that I do not want to be perceived as by society. It would totally ruin the car for me.

But I think that the reason this happened with the 350 as it aged had more to do with the fact that there were so many of them floating around. Hopefully this does not happen with the 370z since there are not as many of them

If you like the looks of the mustang, then I'm going to say that if you test drive one, you will love it. Ive driven both, and putting looks aside, I prefer the drive of the 5.0. Power delivery just feels smoother compared to the Z.

Omikron 03-23-2012 06:59 AM

I don't blame you, very nice looking car, Ford keeps improving the interior on top of that. Not to mention the power. Wonder what the true MPG is?

Everyone's driving/commute varies, but my mileage has been about the same between the 5.0 and the z.

But the 5.0 can take regular gas, correct?

Yes, but I definitely notice it doesn't run as well.

TongMan 03-23-2012 02:41 PM

But having that option is nice.

babbagandu 03-23-2012 05:05 PM

This thread is actually making me want to go to the Ford dealership and do a test drive. The 0% APR sounds nice. But somehow I feel like even if the 5.0's performance is amazing, 3 months down the line I will see a Nismo on the street and regret my decision.

LakeShow 03-23-2012 05:08 PM

See way to many 5.0's on the street and most of them women drivers. I'll stick with the Z

Way too many 5.0s?

There were, what....26k sold in 2011, less in 2012 (sales figures not out yet)

23k z's in 09-10...the ratio is closer than you would like to imagine....

m4a1mustang 03-23-2012 09:29 PM

There are three 5.0s in my apt complex and two 370s. All the 5.0s are driven by men and one of the Zs is driven by an older lady. :)

But none of them park like a boss.

I see so many 5.0's, it's incredible.

Like, I was innocently browsing ford.com. Nothing but 5.0's. I listened to my favorite musical artist, Vanilla Ice, and I gotta hear about 5.0's. I go to this Z meet once in Fairfax, VA. Effing 5.0 shows up.

When in your life have you ever seen a Z? I OWN one, and I don't know it's there half the time. I tend to stub my toe in my driveway. I look down, and there's the Z I parked there.

:icon18: I see a bunch of v6 stangs, few 5.0's.

lol1234 03-26-2012 03:24 PM

I see hardly any 5.0s. . . lots of the v6 ones though

but goddamn that is super tempting. . .I really like the newer rear lights too

Made an appointment to go to the local Ford dealer this Saturday just to see how I like the new 5.0

If they can give me a trade in value within a couple grand of the car price then I may consider it.

Does anyone know what I should expect them to offer? I have an 09 Nismo with 11k miles. It is very clean and just needs to be buffed. Does anyone think I can get 31k for it?

m4a1mustang 03-26-2012 07:07 PM

Make sure you test one with the Brembo pkg.

I doubt you can get 31 for an 09 Nismo.

DarkJak 03-26-2012 10:56 PM

The GT was the other car I was considering when we were looking to get a new car.
Unfortunately, the dealers in knoxville were extremely anal about test drives on their mustangs :/ The cars literally had 1 gallon of gas to drive on.

I've played with the thought of trading the Z in for a GT if it ever stands out too much here in Nashville :P The nice part of seeing so many mustangs around is that I wouldn't feel worried about parking mine on the street.

How tight is the handling on the GT at the limit compared to the Z? I never had a chance to take it to a good road. And how easy was it to get used to the steering wheel? That's one of my biggest gripes with the mustang, how there is plastic right where ones palms would lie in a 9-3 driving position.

Red370 03-27-2012 04:24 AM

pretty gimmicky, but I fvcking love the mirror projections
