..by .1 second through the 1/4 mile with identical 0-60mph times. Our 3.8 Genesis Coupe is also quicker than the V6 Mustang, which does zero to 60 in 5.6 seconds

Actually, it's not. With an equally skilled driver in the same conditions the 370 should be a bit quicker than the Genesis.
Even inside line called in "in-line" rather than "faster." IBTL.

This is funny to me because those numbers aren't faster than what we're obtaining in the Z... Real world numbers are going to butt hurt Hyundai.

It's all a range. You're going to have instances where the Z is quicker or slower, but assuming all things are equal, the Z should be quicker.

IL numbers for the 370Z were lower across the board than anybody else that tested it ...
Edit I just did some research...most testing resulted in 0-60 of 4.6 seconds and 1/4 of 13.0 seconds for the Z

If you plug the hp and curb weight numbers into an online 0-60 calculator like 0-60 mph Calculator for Cars , they come up within .05 sec of each other. It's a tie.

I agree the calc can be used for perfect conditions... we'll just have to wait till they hit the strip... troll thier forums!

areodynamics won't matter much in a 0-60 (bigger effect ton 1/4 mile and beyond). The calculator is a theorectical "what the car can do in perfect conditions" rather than end-all. I assume the companies will use the best tires/gearing that are reasonably priced or they would be cutting their nose off to spte their face. This particular calculator always comes in a bit fast compared to real world times but relativily, it's always close to real world. There are more detailed ones that consider elevation, torque, etc but you have to get a lot of extra data and the results don't vary much at all. It much much harder to evaluate track speeds where tires/weight distribution, etc. have an even bigger effect.
