Default Thinking of trading the Z for a GT-R

So I have been saving up to do a major overhaul on the Z but now that I am at that point of spending the money I have been thinking about getting a GT-R instead... Might be a low mileage used GT-R...

What do you all think? go for it or stick with the Z?

*Update (as I was writing this)
I got the green light from the old lady

I depends on what you plan to do/want from your car honestly.

However, all things being equal, GTR over Z all day imo.

If you really want the GT-R and you can afford the maintenance costs, then go for it. Remember, owning a GT-R is considerably more expensive than the Z; all the aftermarket replacement parts are better and considerably cheaper than OEM when it comes to brakes, but a full brake job will still cost you around $1500/axle. Tires are over $500 each and they wear very quickly if you drive hard. There are quite a few other ancillary costs that rack up as well.

They're fun cars to drive; not as engaging as the Z, but fun nonetheless. Definitely attention-getters when you're out in public.

The GT-R is an awesome platform... it's hard to beat. I'd go that route.

I have looked into it and it is pretty expensive compared to the Z but thankfully I have a job where I can afford it.

I may be a young gun but I have always been smart with my money and stayed within my means and thats why I plan to get a used GT-R and not a new one... up front cost for a new gt-r is not affordable for me.

If you can.. Why not? Personally I would rather have a modded Z over a GT-R... 6mt and rwd FTW... I do love GT-Rs though.. My dads is a blast to drive

Thats why I am thinking about it now... I drove in one over the weekend. long story short a gt-r parked next to me and the guy came out seen me gawking at his car and straight up said "wanna go for a ride?"

My momma always said dont get in any strangers car but hey how could I turn it down?!

I have always been happy witht he Z and its performance coming from an STI I do miss the turbo and fun in the snow but the Z has its way of creeping up on you. It just needs a little more power in my opinion and the rest of my upgrading was just cosmetic that I personally wanted.

After seeing/driving in the GT-R it was S. E. X. it had what I missed from the subaru, plus the power... its got me on one.

Thats what also is pulling me in the direction of the Z I love working on my own cars, modding and just making something mine.

The GT-R I like the way it is and besides for a couple mods of course.

Also take into consideration that there are certain issues with all GT-Rs that are worth mentioning; you will inevitably have issues with the valve seals in the transmission (they'll need to be replaced and it will happen to every GT-R at some point). Make sure to request a Consult 3 printout of the Flicker (black box) data on whether the car was launched or not. Also check to make sure that the maintenance has been kept up with. If over 18K, tranny fluid!!

Thanks for the heads up! Ill be sure to get this checked out, but...
I dont expect to be getting a perfet car and will obviously have to deal with issues at some point in time... for being launched I think it would be hard for someone to find one that hasnt, how many of us that baby our Z's never get on her every once in a while? it would be nice to find that perfect used car tho
As for the valve seals... It sucks that Ill have to replace that at some point but given that I take my Z a couple times a month I wouldnt expect to replace it at any point relatively soon and if I do have to replace it then so be it, its part of buying a used car. I learned then when I bought my first STI in 05'

What other negative things do you have for me on the GT-R...?

"Launching" the GTR refers to engaging launch control, and on earlier models it's problematic. Head over the NAGTROC and read up. Great group of folks over there for the most part.
