Funny, I was there along with other forum members Friday as a group when they were filming it.

I heard it go full throttle but was not impressed.

Sorry :(

Jamaica 11-28-2011 01:53 AM

not impressed until you drive it.

That's right because the 370z sounds so much more powerful.

I know :D

Vapiano got his GT-R this past Friday and I was hanging out with him all day on Saturday. That included when he got his midpipe installed. Got to feel and hear the difference it made on the car and it was amazing. Sounded a lot more exotic with the new midpipe.

:icon17: in that case, one would need to see MC's pilot license before stepping in that ride. Nissan is seriously doing an overkill job with the GTRs. Porsche and the likes have already thrown the towel yet, the GTR keeps pushing the limits - the absolute car in my book.

We'll see what happens when the 991 Turbo S comes out :stirthepot:

agreed, nissan (mizuno in particular) have kept to the R35's philosophy of continualy improvements thruout the car's lifecycle, I think they have exceeded everyone's expectations of how the R35 would evolve. At this rate the final year (2016) or the GTR will see it with around 100hp more than it's innagural year, 2009 of "only" 480hp. :icon17:

Mizuno said the 2013 GT-R is at about 80% of where he wants it to be.

420hp for 35K or whatever it will be aint bad... the facelift is alot sleeker looking you can get recaros from the GT500 now.... and that track app screen in the dash that shows the 1/4 mile times and that little animated drag tree.... gonna be a nice ride...

The way the GT3 got left way behind in the recent drag race with the GTR, I think we know how that's going to end up for the overpriced Porsche. GTR POWA

One of the car mags once called the GT-R the "Worlds Best Mustang" back when it came out, so we're still on topic. ;)

Lemers 11-29-2011 08:20 AM

Actually we are talking the HP race going nuclear so bringing up the GTR is within topic.

Yes but let me direct you to this video, where unfortunately, the Porsche does beat the GT-R. Now this is the old gen 911, the new one should definitely be better than this.

Now we're off topic talking about torque in a HP thread.

New GT500 looks sick, I'm 90% sure I'm going to be ordering a 2013 Mustang GT this spring. Going to do Recaro / Brembo / Track Package! Ford has really come a long way in the last few years.

Why style for 420 HP when you can get 650 HP and 200 mph?

Because you can get the GT for ~$35,000 very well equipped vs. $80,000+ (with markup) for the GT500.

Because 420 is still scare-your-face-off fast

The newest stones are always the shiniest. So the newer and the more talk we give the shelby, the less shine the 5.0 seems to have. I would be happy with both methinks. what is the final drive on the shelby anyway? isn't it like 3.1 or something really tall.

ok, why/how are we comparing these two cars? Since when do people sit there and decide between a $30k car and a $80k car? Hmmm, should I buy a 370Z or a GT-R? A 328 or an M3?

Doesn't happen really. The 5.0 and Shelby are both amazing cars for their price range.

Just like the dealers asking $60k around here I can still find Internet pricing for less than MSRP. Yes there will be a mark up for the first 2013s on the showroom floor. But after a while when more show up at dealers they will come down in price. My only concern is how much of an increase will ford place on the MSRP.

If ford does raise the MSRP I will then look into a SC 5.0 off the lot.

Rooster89 11-30-2011 10:12 AM

I was just refering to the new kid in school syndrome. The 5.0 came out, amazed most. two years later the shelby comes out, amazes most. again. but one is newier and shinier than the other.

Econ 11-30-2011 10:27 AM

How much will a 5.0 with full boltons add in terms of rwhp?

Im assuming the 5 liter v8 responds better to NA mods than my ex-370.

Full exhaust, CAI, tune, and a Boss 302 manifold and you are at about 440-450 whp.

Just a CAI/Tune should get you to around 400-410.
