Just a CAI/Tune should get you to around 400-410.

How much whp do they come with stock?

Don't know much about Stangs but from what I remember a pulley swap used to do wonders for the engine, does this still hold true?

Only on the supercharged cars. So on the 550 hp GT500 you could spend about $600 or so on a pulley and a tune and make 650+ hp with the factory blower.

I think the '03-'04 Cobras were able to run from about the stock 390whp to 500-550ish on the stock blower with just a pulley swap.

It depends, but usually around 370 whp.

A close friend of mine had one, we went to Palm Springs (hot desert resort city hour and a half from LA) and his rear bumper warped from the heat though :rofl2: Then his engine fell apart at 60k and he leased a beemer.

m4a1mustang 11-30-2011 10:59 AM

That's crazy. Those engines were generally bulletproof and could stand up to ridiculous power.

Doesn't happen really. The 5.0 and Shelby are both amazing cars for their price range.

It does happen, not all the time obviously, but for true car enthusiasts with a bit of $$$, they/we will always be looking at a good performing car and debating purchasing it regardless of price so long as it is still w/in the buyer's price range. (sadly, no new lambos or ferrrari's for me).

KingZee 11-30-2011 02:56 PM

Yeah, I said "doesn't happen really" speaking and generalizing the average consumer...I mean, if I could really afford the Shelby and I loved mustangs I probably wouldn't buy a 5.0.

Rooster89 11-30-2011 05:07 PM

Well some people might put the price difference into aftermarket parts. I know plenty people thought about a 370tt and compared it to a slightly used GTR. The biggest trend the average consumer follows is skipping performance cars for a comfy boring fuel sipping commuter.

Yeah well if she's that worried she could cut her food portions in half and feed a small thridworld country. And put the smokes away, I thought that was the 90s "tell everyone how to live their life" movement.

I think more people cross shop price ranges more than you'd expect.

MC 12-14-2011 06:01 PM

so my dad and my brother went in today and ordered a 2013 Mustang GT.. my dad just happened to call on the first day the ordering window was open for them...

they got it pretty loaded everything but the glass top and that shaker 1K watt stereo or whatever it is......so recaro seats brembo brakes HID lights NAV 19" wheels... and this is the part i was surprised on they got the dealer to agree to $500 over invoice .... should be here mid april he told them

pricing wasnt out but looking at the similar equipped 2012... the car is gonna run low 40's so invoice is around 38-39 ish... my brother has a 05 mustang now that should trade in for 11-12K...

all in all not a bad deal i think for 420hp car.... i cant wait to try out that drag race timer thing in the dash

Red__Zed 12-14-2011 07:32 PM

congrats, hopefully he enjoys it.

I'm not surprised that he got the car at invoice-- ford dealers are pretty straightforward and BS free

Lemers 12-14-2011 07:40 PM

Any pricing or release on the '13 GT500?

Rooster89 12-14-2011 08:27 PM

Yeah, I think the glass roof is pretty cool. I have yet to see one in person. But its definitely an option i would consider.

The glass roof is amazing. I didn't look for a car with it because I didn't think I wanted that extra weight up top, but after realizing my car is used more as a street machine than anything else it's one of those options I'd look for if I could do it all over again. It's really cool.

MC... that's sweet. Gonna be a nice car. I'm sure your bro will enjoy it. Like Red I'm not surprised he got a good deal on it.

Lemers... nothing yet. But I think this car is going to be in high demand and is going to have some pretty big markups attached to it.

m4a1mustang 12-15-2011 11:53 AM

The standard Brembo should be the same ones we have now (looks like it from the order guide) which are the Porsche 911 GT2 style.

Those look a little like the Aventador wheels, especially if they were all black.

Yeah the new ones are really cool. For some reason my first thought was Tron.

Lemers 12-15-2011 02:23 PM

I don't like either set. Think the dealer would swap out my rays as part of a trade in?

I'm with you, I don't care for either set. Well actually the wheels in the pictures on page 1 look pretty good.
