I can tell you the flowmaster hushpower sounds great. Really deep deep bass sound. There is some interior resonance at low rpm. Boderline intolerable for long stop and go drives. No problem on the highway. Removing blocking off the sound tube helps a little. Pretty happy with mine. Considered the roush axlebacks. Sounds good more of a hollow sound and no low rpm interior resonance as much as the hushpower. Try to hear them in person vidoes dont do it justice. I would've gone roush but the hushpower is so deep. Easy install, fitment is good. No issues during the install. There are hanger bracket that i removed and put onto the mufflers instead of just sliding them into the hangers. It was easier that way. There just wasnt enough room to just slide in. If you like flowmasters and generally how they sound you'll prob like them.

m4a1mustang 10-17-2011 10:33 PM

I like how the Flows sound but I could never deal with the drone.

yeah, tryna avoid drone. i've already dealt with enough drone in my life.

I almost ordered it in Sterling Gray but they are acrylic and are color filled so it's not a totally clean look, it's kind of like a bowling ball where the color and flake is flowing all over the place.

Are these the ones? Sadly, they're out of stock. The dude earlier must have had 5.0 custom engraved.

you custom order them from grabber pony. Sometimes they have generics in stock but 99 percent of the time you have to custom order, and you can get pretty much whatever you want engraved.

If you dont like flows or think their 2 chambers are to loud you may want to go roush. The gt500s are a step louder than stock. They sound a little different on a gt than on a shelby..

m4a1mustang 10-17-2011 10:40 PM

The GT500s are a good option for the people that want a medium increase in volume and no drone. I like them, good for a DD. I have the FRPP Sports which are a lot louder, but still no drone which is great.

i'm trying to figure out if the roush will be too loud though. not trying to be super obnoxious.

m4a1mustang 10-17-2011 10:45 PM

After what I have been telling you (I am literally looking at a 5.0 w/ the Roush ABs in the gf's apt complex right now) u still can't make up your mind, get the gt500s.

Remember that scene from Blackhawk Down at the staging area...

" I don't think I can get the Roush axle back, sir"

"Thomas (Dan), its what you do right now that makes a difference"

*camera focuses in on monitor... Dan orders Roush AB, Steve nods in approval*

So do it.

I actually read that the GT500's on a GT are louder than the stock GT500's.

Not surprising since the 5.0 has a factory H pipe and the GT500 uses an X. The X is a lot quieter and smoother at idle and in low revs.

You'll prob wanna go with the gt500s then. If you wanna be a notch louder than stock. If you dont wanna be too loud and you dont want rasp gt500s prob be the ones for you.

That's what I did. Have the GT500s sitting in my garage :) My order for my actual car got picked up Friday. I am supposed to get a VIN # end of this week. lol.

Nismoracer, just curious, why'd you switch up to the 5.0?

Red370 10-18-2011 03:47 AM

this made me LOL, figured i'd share..

That sticker must only be for the New GT since every previous GT had garbage under the hood.

FromG2Z 10-18-2011 08:10 AM

^ actually the 4.6L could hold its own quite well. Is it better than the 5.0? No. But it wasn't THAT bad. Actually, it responds to boost better than the 5.0.

What I think needed a lot of improvement on the 4.6's were the interior and suspension/handling, all of which have been addressed in the 2011+ stangs.

m4a1mustang 10-18-2011 08:32 AM

I liked the 4.6. It was nothing special N/A but they are boost monsters. Easy to double power reliably with those things.

A stock 2010 is basically a mid 13 second car, which is pretty much average these days, so it was never a dog.

Red__Zed 10-18-2011 08:39 AM

Yeah, and that 4.6 was around for quite a while...of course it was dated towards the end...

GZ3 10-18-2011 11:19 AM

Red, if your worried about sound why not just look into an off road H or X...louder than stock, no drone, sounds Awesome!.. and a good 15-20rwhp gain...cheaper than axel backs that gain 0 hp/tq

Red__Zed 10-18-2011 12:00 PM

Want to stay emission compliant. Not trying to go down that road again.

red6spd 10-18-2011 02:50 PM

A 4.6L V8 that made 260-315hp soounds weak to me. A 2.0L 4 banger putting out 240hp, now thats an engine. The new 5.0 is the only GT Stang that I would give a second glance at.

I respect the stang. But I'm not crazy.

Yes but those 4.6Ls are all pushing over 300 lb-ft of torque.

Yea the tq is nice, but it did not help it much. The 350 was as fast or faster during the 4.6L Stang life span.

Yes it does...sounds awesome and the gains are great...am basically following the NA mod list off the 507rwhp 5.0 by jpc...its relatively short!

Yup, I whooped up on allot of 4.6's in my bolt on. 03 350...even mod for mod it was a kill...gears made the 4.6 nasty tho

Red__Zed 10-18-2011 03:19 PM

The 4.6 was brought out in what...95?

Lemers 10-18-2011 03:24 PM

So the 5.0 will be around in why 2026?

Red__Zed 10-18-2011 03:25 PM

Mayb they'll use it as long as the last 302:rofl2:

That would be nuts. Still debating on whether or not I want to do the 4.08 gears/diff. They are some pretty awesome mods that would help a lot on the track, but I don't want to spend too much money on the Z.
