Probably... not sure.

Red__Zed 09-17-2011 10:42 PM

I'll have to check into that I guess

m4a1mustang 09-17-2011 10:47 PM

FWIW, there are no companies out there that make any aftermarket wheels worthy of buying. Grant makes one, but they suck balls.

Best option, IMO, would be a swap with the Boss OR GT500 wheel.

GT500 would be easiest because it retains all of the controls.

Red__Zed 09-17-2011 10:48 PM

yeah but pricing is very steep. I may just hold off and wait for a good option.

m4a1mustang 09-17-2011 10:50 PM

Doubt you'll get one. There really isn't much demand save for an all-out track oriented replacement. If there was there would be better wheels available for the 05-09s well before the 10+ came out.

I think it's just one of those things you'll get used to with time.

Red__Zed 09-17-2011 10:53 PM

I guess we will find out. there are a lot more people tracking the 5.0/Boss...I'm just surprised that the LS comes with a huge wheel still

There's a reason for it, probably. It's a different type of car. Just look at a NASCAR racer vs. a Porsche GT Cup car...

TBH you're the first Mustang'er I have heard calling for a smaller diameter wheel.

Smaller Steering Wheel Options for 2011 Mustang GT Premium? - Ford Mustang Forums

Lol, of course it is another s2k driver asking.

I think that most people tracking the car, or especially autocrossing will be faster with a smaller wheel.

m4a1mustang 09-17-2011 11:02 PM

Well, if there's one thing I know it's that Ford will listen to the folks that track the cars, so if that comes up I'd expect a smaller dia FRPP wheel at some point.

No, I haven't. The only thing I am thinking about doing is using plasti-dip to black out the chrome pony. I like the look of the grille with the fogs on either side.

Though if I did swap the grille I would look at the Roush and Saleen grilles... very nice.

Unless you want a billet/chrome style.

Considering a fully functional GT500 wheel is only $399 MSRP, you'll probably not have to bend over that far.

That would look sick Steve!

I was never a mustang hater, but I was one of those people that said I would never get a mustang. After that ride in your 5.0 I definitely changed my mind. Part of me wishes that I had gotten a 5.0 instead of the Z, but I'm still happy with my decision.

yeah, but they'll call it a "racing" wheel and void my warranty or something:roflpuke2:

debating the boss blue vs red

m4a1mustang 09-18-2011 02:39 PM

"Ford Engine Blue"

It's classic. But red would look very good, too.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-K...2014.25.34.jpg

I used Duplicolor (I think) 500* engine enamel. Gloss red for the Z and Ford Engine Blue for the 5.0. It looks good and holds up like OEM.

Red__Zed 09-18-2011 02:46 PM

yeah, the blue is classic, but everyone has done it it...red would be different...hm...

Red__Zed 09-18-2011 02:51 PM

http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...cture306-a.jpg

found a pic of them painted red...not sure how I feel.

Isamu 09-18-2011 02:56 PM

I would love to see the intake mani PC'd black/dark grey

But the reason it's popular is because it's good. Red is OK, not as good as the blue, though.

yeah yeah I know...

with the grey, the blue is a no brainer. I think I will have more red accents against the black though.

thoughts?

m4a1mustang 09-18-2011 08:07 PM

Forgestar F14s definitely look good on the Mustang. There are a few guys that have them and they are pretty sweet.

I like those wheels. I like that design and also the bronze/gold w/the black car thing too.

Oh, and those springs that M41a.... posted awhile back on that red stang looked like the perfect drop too btw.

Alchemy 09-18-2011 08:10 PM

Idk about the gold. Gold on your old Z, yes. I just dont know if the gold goes w a Mustang. I feel like it needs a tougher color. Gunmetal or even my bronze burst would look better IMO.

This is a good point worthy of consideration. Mustang needs to maintain a meaner type of look.

Though with a drop I still think those bronze F14s would look good. Not the norm, but still good.

Wasn't there an old Shelby gt350 something or other from the 60's (not a mustang afficianado) that was decked out black and gold tho??

Ah yes, the old Hertz edition specially made for the Hertz rental company. People used to rent them and take them out and street race all across the town.

http://www.fantasyjunction.com/img/cars/large/43823.jpg

They did gold stripes, so gold wheels definitely will work.

FL 4Motion 09-18-2011 08:18 PM

/\ that's the one! I saw one driving around a few years ago, looked good. I wish the current stang was more in line size wise wiht the original, less muscle car and more pony car.

m4a1mustang 09-18-2011 08:18 PM

Do it Dan.
