Does it feel werd when putting in reverse being it's in the other direction?. My Ford (450) work truck is like that.

It was a weird transition for me at first (all my other MTs had reverse in the same position as the Z), but once you get used to it I find it a better setup. Going from reverse to 1st is quicker.

holy shyt, and another turns to the dark side

Congrats on the new ride man, it looks awesome, although, given the chance, I definitely would have gone the Boss route

First things first, uncork that stock exhaust. Next, either a JLT/Airraid/Steeda CAI/Tune is a must. And if you really wanna melt faces and turn heads, an offroad H/X pipe (X pipe is nasty raspy so I went with an H). If you want a bit more engine noise in the cabin, you can remove the foam from inside the sound tube as well. Do this and you'll be sitting well into the 400's at the wheel.

BTW, the new Hurst short throw looks amazing, a little on the expensive side but it reminds me of old 60's era drag muscle.

Awesome pics Dan, that review makes me want to get a 5.0 too, but its not gonna happen

Really wish i can go to ZDayZ with you guys next year, I'll find out if I can go once I find out my final exam schedule for spring semester. Damn people picked the WORST time to schedule it

There is a lot of criticism about the Hurst shifter for the lack of a reverse lockout. I'd never use that one.

Has MGW come out with theirs yet? I know they were building an entire new mount assembly.

theres no reverse lockout? It does come with an LED indicator so you can tell that you're in reverse, so thats better than nothing. Didnt know MGW had one coming out.

Hey, I noticed a few things wrong with your Z

1.Someone put 5.0 on the fender
2.The floor mats say Mustang
3.The Shifter knob has reverse in the wrong location

My best guess is, someone pull a bad prank on you. It's ok, we're here to help you through this tough time.

Yeah, no lockout which is a big deal when 1st and Reverse are essentially in the same place. Not a smart design, IMO.

I think both Steeda and Barton would be better options than the Hurst... I'll give it an A+ for looks, though. But as far as function I would never use one.

Regarding MGW, they have had something in the works for a while. I'm not sure if it's available yet or not, but it's supposed to replace the entire shifter and mount assembly.

Just did a search, it's available. Here's a comprehensive review: SVTPerformance MGW Omnibus : MGW MT-82 Shifter Preview, Install, and Review - SVTPerformance

I am going to need to look into this. MGW is a proven company and have made some great shifters in the past.
