If Hyundai was the last car maker on the planet Id buy a bike. No self respecting car guy can drive around with his head held high in a cheap hunk of poop like that.
Same can be said for a Nissan, considering their products are of similar quality.

And this is what a "Chevy" guy from the 70s said back then. You know, that guy you laugh at and make fun of for being stuck in the past and not liking imports.

YOU ARE HIM.

But you stooped down to a lowly Datsun, which weren't exactly viewed in the best of lights in the 60s and 70s.

For those who remember, back in the fifties and sixties if you asked someone what type of words are descriptive of Japanese products, you would have heard, "Cheap", "Crap", etc. Today the same question gets a response more like, "High Tech", "High quality", "I want it", etc. Hyundai hasn't been around for too long but they are definitely making inroads. Since it'll be a while before I will ever need to decide which 100K car I want, I just hope to see as many companies making cars as possible.

perceptions change over time, and right now Korean car makers seem to have all the momentum. I'll never own a 100k car, but it's cool that there's finally going to be a Korean halo car. Hyundai also has a flagship model (Equus), a proper sporty coupe (GenCoupe), and they're receiving high marks for their fuel efficient engines in the Accent and Sonata. Plus, that warranty is terrific.

But if I were buying a 100k car, I might go British.

Now, Lexus and BMW and Mercedes are synonymous with each other.

Hyundai looks to be following their exact business model. Look how far they came in just 10 years? Give them another 10 and unless the global economy changes radically, you will be singing another tune.
I couldn't have said it any better than these two posts.

Withhold judgement on the car until it's released & reviewed before instantly writing it off because it's a Hyundai.

it isnt the hyuandai badge detering me, however the fact that this would be their first "supercar", and im sure it would be a learning process for them.

I'd be nervous spending 100k on hyundais's first attempt. I personally dont think the hyundai brand is terrible, hell i only drive a nissan....who am i to judge.

they have the partners, the money, technology to create a really amazing supercar.

They could even make it a diesel supercar if they wanted to based on their diesel tech they have worldwide.

Problem is hyundai ussually tones down their cars a bit for more mass market appeal.

If they really decide to go bonkers on this it could be something quite extreme.

Considering the price tag, if it's real, they have decided to step into a different arena. Any one of those executives can and most assuredly has driven any number of high-end cars. They would not price their offering among them if they did not feel they could compete. Their business model seems to be very successful, not based on stupid moves. If they bring a $100K car to market, you can bet it will perform.

I find it ballsy that you bought the first year of a new model sports car from Nissan.

Not exactly the same though. Nissan has a long heritage with the Z and has been making them for a while. The hyundai supercar would be a first attempt and there is no history or experience behind it. Also, huge difference between trying out a $30-40k first attempt and a $100k first attempt. Still get what you're saying though.
