If they get the power and weight right, it will probably be worth it.
RWD Scion TC?
Yes, if you want to go backwards and compete with a miata and the rest of the pre-2000 era family cars.
the subaru version of this car probably would give the 370z some competition.

I think the car looks great and all, but a 2.0 N/A flat four? This thing better weigh 2300 lbs or less. I also heard that the subaru version will be using the same engine
Wait until the production models comes out..
Concept stuff never really make its way to the market. But 20" with 18" brake discs? Did I hear that right? |
200hp < 330hp. No thanks, looks awesome though
performance
no hurry
it would need to run sub 5 sec zero to 60 and pull 1 g I mean it doesn't look bad, but let's not get ahead of ourselves |
Looks pretty cool, not cool enough for me to leave my Z
Looks nice, but 200 hp? Minivans come with more than that.
Alot of this will not make it to production besides the engine. so i wouldn't"t get your hopes hope. the 370Z will totally crush this car in every single category! And Toyota will not price it cheap your lookin at 27k or higher for this car. I doubt it will make any sense to buy it. unless you get the cheap 21k version with no options. your looking at the new civic fan boy car. so really really think it over. doesnt seem worth it to me at all.

IMO, I never liked the new tC. This new car is definitely appealing, efficient, and hopefully fun to drive. Sometimes I wish the Z went back to the basics in terms of packaging. Regardless, I wouldn't trade my Z for as long as I can afford gasoline.
The FT-86 looks ricey so no, I wouldn't trade in my Z.
looks like the fender behind the front wheels narrows inward with a lot of the back side of the front wheel sticking out. Have fun soaking the side of you car with mud and dinging it with rocks
Im interested more in the subie/toyota versions.
Scion can eat a **** |
Only thing I really don't like about that scion is it's side mirrors. Way too small.
Its the 2012 2013?????? Nissan Z threads all over again. This is like the 3rd thread about this car in the past week. This car is going to be in the 20k price range, which means it will not be competing with cars like the Z.
Looks awesome, but it doesn't pass the "must have 300 hp to play" test.
wtf is like the LFA and the 370z's baby LOL
Always say never to toyota. Unless it is an lfa.
I like the styling. It's a good looking car. Not for me though. Dropping almost 200 hp from my TT to the 370, no way I would sacrafice another 100!

Might also be worth waiting to see what the Subie version will be like. If possible, I'd like to keep the Z and get that as a second car. Quote:
Of course, if it only makes 180 hp at the crank, they better offer a turbo version :( |

Watch the FT-86 turn into a girlie car like the Celica. 200hp wasn't even enough in a car like the Lotus Elise. Hence the Exige and Exige S.
If they can match the interior of the 370Z in fit, finish, and aesthetics, on top of provide a punchy, mod friendly, and adequately powerful motor on a light car...then the FT revival car will prove worthy.
But seeing as how Toyota execs are billing this as more of a Miata MX5 fighter, I wouldn't bet on any of the above happening. Here's what I predict: 2.0L H4 200HP @ 7500RPM 150TQ @ 2000RPM 2750-2800lbs (Options pending) 2+2 Seating |

I think this car looks good as a concept but still seems like a down grade from the Z
I'll trade in my Z when nissan puts out a TT Z from the factory.
Not unless you like torque!
Plus this keeps getting delayed it won't be out until 2013 with all the issues Toyota has been having. |
This will not perform on the same level as the z.
Stock vs Stock no... But when modding goes anything wins. |

If the new Alfa 4C comes to the US in an affordable package, I'd buy that and never even consider the FT-86.
***Addendum Although...I just read the next page in my CAR Magazine and the Subaru STI version of the FT-86 might get my attention. https://files.me.com/spearfish25/to7hcw |
Even more food for thought...the latest Esflow update. Apparently the seats are molded into the rear bulkhead and the steering wheel and pedals adjust. About damn time, Nissan.

370z 3,300/330=10lb/hp
FT86 x,x00/200=10lb/hp Unless it has something else going for it its going to have to be around the weight of a Lotus Elise/Exige. But I doubt that, it will be around the same weight of other small 2 seat cars, 2,700-3,100 lbs. (Miata/S2000 plus the weight of a roof ~300lbs) Edit: If they stress a little more on safety and use more cheaper materials to keeps costs down, it may end up heavier then a Z. |
The Subie STI version is speculated to have over 270hp in the article I posted.
