The design is really attractive and stylish, but the power will be lacking. Toyota is aiming for a retail price in the low 25k market. It will compete with the Hyundai Genesis 2.0T, Subaru WRX, Lancer Ralliart, VW GTI, Mini Cooper, Honda Civic Si, Cobalt SS T/C, Dodge Caliber SRT4, etc.
I'm thinking it will be close to the 200 bhp league. It's no where near the status of the 370z. |
instead of looking at the ft-86 why not look at the new twin turbo 6 cylinder bmw m3's coming out?

However...I'm pretty sure the car's more like a RWD Celica/Supra replacement than the AE86 replacement. I mean the 4AG engine in the AE86 was pretty high in RPM during it's time. If the boxer engine can't out-rev that, it's kinda mute point. |

Over 20 grand doesn't fall into the "much more money" catagory for me! :D |

I'm just saying, there really isn't much being done for serious modification on our cars. Shamu's got some stuff going for racing, if you want power you can follow Bullit's $200k+ path to a partially finished car. 3 years out, there should be a lot more for our cars. |
