I like the styling. It's a good looking car. Not for me though. Dropping almost 200 hp from my TT to the 370, no way I would sacrafice another 100!

If they can match the interior of the 370Z in fit, finish, and aesthetics, on top of provide a punchy, mod friendly, and adequately powerful motor on a light car...then the FT revival car will prove worthy.
But seeing as how Toyota execs are billing this as more of a Miata MX5 fighter, I wouldn't bet on any of the above happening. Here's what I predict: 2.0L H4 200HP @ 7500RPM 150TQ @ 2000RPM 2750-2800lbs (Options pending) 2+2 Seating Last edited by AlphaSnacks; 04-24-2011 at 07:32 PM. |

I think this car looks good as a concept but still seems like a down grade from the Z

This will not perform on the same level as the z.
Stock vs Stock no... But when modding goes anything wins.

If the new Alfa 4C comes to the US in an affordable package, I'd buy that and never even consider the FT-86.
***Addendum Although...I just read the next page in my CAR Magazine and the Subaru STI version of the FT-86 might get my attention.

370z 3,300/330=10lb/hp
FT86 x,x00/200=10lb/hp Unless it has something else going for it its going to have to be around the weight of a Lotus Elise/Exige. But I doubt that, it will be around the same weight of other small 2 seat cars, 2,700-3,100 lbs. (Miata/S2000 plus the weight of a roof ~300lbs) Edit: If they stress a little more on safety and use more cheaper materials to keeps costs down, it may end up heavier then a Z. It's funny the article states this when most suby informers and the suby boards all say the suby version won't have turbo and will just be a slightly different design compared to the toyota. I'd love to see a STI motor in this car but there really hasn't been any hard evidence to suggest it will happen. All the major evidence of this car points to a 2.0 NA with 200 or less hp.

No AWD. All models will have a subaru engine in them, either a tuned up EJ20 or the new FB20. Quote:
There's a test mule running around a couple places with an EJ207 and a twin scroll straight out of the J- spec STI, and another one with the EJ257 and the VF48. |
