I mean Nissan is going after Porsche and yet Porsche offers both DSG and traditional manual with the 911 turbo. Oh well, guess I'll hold out for the C7 for now
while i do prefer traditional manual transmissions, in a car like the GTR having the DSG style gear box is very advantageous in many ways. it works really well (yes i've driven one) and it lets the driver focus on throttle, steering, and brake inputs while in spirited or track driving. this makes the car safer in all situations mostly because both hands can stay on the wheel at all times, therefore less likely for you to make a mistake (it happens to the best of us). the transmission is very responsive and if you want a downshift, it will give it to you. it's not like the old auto trans with "manumatic" function where it took .5-1 second to downshift or upshift. during my time behind the wheel of the R35, when it hit the paddle to shift, the car was completely shifted and back in the power before i even left off the paddle. it's faster than the blink of an eye. yes rowing your own gears is still fun but for a really high end performance car that you intend to drive at or close to the limits, i'd rather have the DSG
