You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig. Lot more to making Hyundai Gen Coupe competitive with Z by just upping HP. Its a weak sports

im proud i purchased a 2006 fully loaded v6 hyundai sonata that at 90k miles has never given one problem and at the time of purchase cost 9k less than a equivalent camry/accord.

and comparing the 2 is nothing like what you mentioned... but dont worry, give it more time and you'll look back at statements like these and go oops guess i was wrong.

Because turn the clock back to early 90's.. hell no one really purchased a nissan (other than the z which was about the only well reknown car in the US)

turn it back even further hell if you purchased a toyota you'd be ashamed..

The thing i guess people dont realize cus they wanna be stuck in the now and dont think things through is that times change and with it, the companies you love/trust change.

1999. ABIT motherboards were great and EVGA was the evil horrible company

today, asus motherboards and evga is the brand to get for reliability and awesome service.

Point well made it takes time to change peoples opinion of car models.
i may be proven wrong in the future but i don't think there will ever be a hyundai that will match up with the 370 or any future Z model. besides it's not comparing apples to apples anyway. imo.

precisely.

I mean i think its cool that they get compared. the Gen isnt gonna win except in a value added perspective. where someone who isnt a complete sports car fan, would like the Gen more over the z.

And I think thats where Hyundai wanted to go with the car too.

I mean comeon, we sit here alot and make comments about alot of people/companies like "WTF were they thinking" but people have to remember, we on forums like this, are not your average everyday people. I say the same thing to the guys on tech forums who only think like themselves. We are a small percentage..

The Z isnt for everyone. The Genesis is more for everyone.

And one day, Hyundai will probably make a car, which Nissan will try to match up against... truthfully as of right now, the new sonata hybrid and even regular sonata are quite amazing.

I'm in fairly good company.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 - Road Test - Auto Reviews - Car and Driver

Sorry but sexy lines and big motor don't make a sports car. At least to enthusiasts. Anyone who has spent time in Korea will understand the culture there just isn't tuned into sports car segment.

They failed on balance and suspension on this car. Its also over a foot longer than our big phat Z,s with wheel base that is nearly a foot longer as well. It may be a cheap Lexus beater but comes no where close to a Z for us true enthusiast drivers.

If hyundai could fit their 4.6 or 5.0 V8 into the coupe they would sell so many more of them, it would be the korean version of the mustang GT.

I don't think that would be the case. Likely selling for around $40k if they did that. A better option for them would be a more powerful V6.

No I use my experience from spending time around Hyundai manufacturing and in Korea in general. I'm not saying it's a bad car it's just not a sports car. I trust my understanding of sports car engineering and many years of driving and developing sports racing cars from Nissan, Mazda and Porsche. Sorry this bloated under suspended sedan based car isn't anything close to Z , rx8 or Porsche cayman. ......Continue with the delusions please.

I dont disagree with you which is the funny part, just the degree of how bad you say it is.

Again, they didnt make a true enthusiastic sports car so to try and compare it as one is the mistake. What if the comparison said, "IS the 370z as everyday as the genesis coupe??" then the z would look bad.

Hyundai didnt try to capture the true enthusiast market. So they didnt build one. But again they didnt build a bad car if you look at the genesis coupe for what it was built for.

Yeah one thing that hurts the Z is that it only comes with the v6. But then people like us would think that putting the 4 cyl in there would hurt it as well. Nissan decided they dont want to compromise the car to capture a larger market.

going back to the Hyundai, they decided they wanted a larger market share.

Thats all it really is, 2 cars built for 2 different purposes, yet compared against each other as if one is trying to be exactly like the other.

Just look at difference in quality of parts and front suspension design. again as a non enthusiast car it packs lots of features and fairly good power to weight ratio but all steel front strut suspension falls short of true sports cars.

Just look at difference of quality and design
