xiven 02-10-2011 01:29 PM

one hyundai thread is enough ;)

Yeah and you have to explain to your neighbors and friends why you bought an expensive Hyundai. With the Z, you dont have to explain anything.

Is that weight for the sedan or for the coupe?

If this is for the sedan, I would assume the coupe is lighter... However, the coupe doesn't get the V8 engine.. Only V6..

I was at the media event yesterday. The 5.0 Rspec Genesis is the SEDAN. There was no mention of an R-spec coupe. And frankly, an R-spec sedan was a stupid move by Hyundai. They should have done an R-spec coupe instead.

they have an r-spec coupe.

2.0t. no frills. lower weight. brembo brakes, lsd etc.

what you should be saying is: they need to do a r-spec v6 gen coupe. cus they dont have that.

I stand corrected but they actually do have an r-spec V6 now too (just checked the website). Didn't realize they slipped in a few extra models of the coupe, including an r-spec V6. To restate my idea more correctly, they need to introduce a new coupe with bigger balls (aka engine upgrade) to compete with the Z.

I was referencing the 332 hp / 290 tq V6 Genesis coupe, not the sedan, as being the competitor which you will find further down the post, not the R-Spec sedan.

The sedan is a different car completely really. The coupe though only weighs about 100-125lbs more than our cars. With more torque and some mods they would be a good competitor I think (also if they get rid of that redline induced power chop by the ECU).

oh whoops! I'm so used to the Z getting compared to V8's.....i still dont hink it will compete though

I think that the fact that the Hyundai 3.8l V6 is getting direct injection is a good sign that the mid cycle refresh for the VQ37 will include some direct injection to keep its advantage.

it's a good thing. competition will make both hyundai and nissan cars better.

see what happens with ford and chevrolet, the mustang and camaro both get better every year.
