Test drove a 2010 Gen Coupe. Mushy like a boat. It's got kick and a little bit of style (although personally I think it's ugly as hell, not to mention Hyundai loves to steal design cues from other cars), but it's way too soft and does not make decent power for its displacement (in 2010 anyway). IIRC the first model of the Genesis Coupe had the 2.0 turbo and the 3.8 V6, and the V6 made 308 horses or so. The interior was also terrible, almost 350Z terrible. Lots of plastic and vinyl paneling. Heavy, too.
All in all the Z will always be a better choice because they've got a 30+ year pedigree. Nissan also competes in the JCTG, er, I mean, the SuperGT so you can expect some nice things to trickle down from a history in competitive motorsport.
