I was sitting here thinking the same thing.

When I was looking for a car, I considered the corvette and mustang just because of the power. If the Z had 350whp I wouldn't have even thought about them.

I don't see it going away, but I think we'll def see some sort of hybrid type drive in it at some point, perhaps as early as the Z35, ie. DI w/brake energy regeneration, mild hybrid type drive assist.

I'd love to see a 3.0 DI turbo w/brake force energy regeneration (or whatever it's called) making 400hp in the next Z, but we'll see.
Nissan won't put a v8 in the Z b/c it's traditionally always been a 6 banger. Same reason that the GTR won't see one eithter, it's always been a 6 or turbo 6 banger. Not too mention that the v8 is going the way of the dodo bird with increasing fuel efficiency standards all around.

MC can probably elaborate, but the racing GTR's that currently utilize a v8 are doing so either to accomodate the racing body rulebook or b/c an N/A motor is more reliable in endurance racing events.

for me if they make a Hybrid Z Nissan dies for me, thats a masacre for a true sports car!!!

Well, me and the future Mrs. have decided to buy a Juke, we're gonna go with the gun metallic color and AWD version of course, test drove one and enjoyed it, its got some balls believe it or not, plenty sporty for me as well, i'm a fan, what can I say.

you really think 380 is next? should be interesting whats next.

I dont think they make a 380Z because that is for the GTR with the VR38, they have to decrease displacement to 3.0-3.2 and put 2 sexy turbines to make it scream!!! :stirthepot:

just like others have said, i agree that a v8 won't happen in a new z. not only is it against tradition, but the world is progressing to a more fuel-energy conscious mind and that would further inhibit sales. the z is already a niche car being a 2-seater sports car.

as far as a boosted car, it would nice to dream, but adding 10k more to this car? its a 2 seater sports car that starts out at 30k. now we're talking base of 40k. 40k and we're talking base corvette territory. from an economics standpoint, i think it wouldn't make sense to start competing on a corvette level unless the performance was on par. however, if you make a z that performs just as well, if not better than a corvette, you cut into gtr sales.

i think the 30-40k niche sports car is where nissan feels comfortable with the z. most likely a mid generation refresh with di to compete with the new 5.0 stang and upcoming z28 camaro would be most likely, while sticking to the current price range.

But the Juke has a turbo and it's around 20K. Why can't Nissan boost the power of that engine up to Z-level without breaking the price tag? Why does everyone automatically add 10K to a new Z with a turbo?

Well, congratulations... on both counts!

So I take it you didn't mind the styling of the Juke? I saw one reviewer call it "son of Aztec"! :icon17:

probably cause of the power the Z would put down u have to spend more money to make it reliable just a guess

Right, sorry. That was a FAIL for me.

Not "twin turbo", just a "turbo". :)

I guess I'm used to thinking of the Z with a TT, so I just projected. :icon14:

Haha! You should take a look at it first.

I don't want to start a flame war with our resident Juke owners, but some might call the car "fugly". :roflpuke2:

I really think the addition of a hybrid motor could be a good thing. We've only seen hybrids designed to boost economy, not power, and there are some insanely fast all electric cars so we shouldn't discredit the tech. Would having an addition 50 hp from a small motor on tap whenever we want it be such a bad thing? Hell, the battery could be small since we don't necessarily need the motor running the whole time.
