Well this could be potentially promising news on the return of the turbocharged Z:

According to Autocar sources, one of the engines under consideration is the new 3.5 liter turbocharged V6 being developed by Mercedes-Benz tuned to around the 400 bhp (406 PS / 298 kW) mark. It would replace the 3.7 liter in the Infiniti G series.

Infiniti to have AMG power plants under the hood?

370zproject 12-06-2010 02:14 PM

2 places eh?

now that I had sometime to think about it, I came to the conclusion that I don't want or see this happening. I know Nissan loves their VQ engine, I can see them picking up the 6.3 v8 from AMG for the IPL M model, but replacing their v6.... I dunno if I see them doing that. I rather Nissan make their own FI V6.

Take it for what it's worth, but when I was at the dealership the other day for service, one of the techs was telling me that the 2012 370 will receive a slight exterior facelift and DI making around 360 hp. It's also been known that a DI engine has been in the works for the G37 for a while, so it makes ense for it to come to the Z.

:rofl2: Trusting a random tech.
Not laughing at you or anything, but I really doubt he had any idea.

+1 even if it is happening, some random tech wouldn't even know this early.

/\ agreed that some random tech couldn't possibly be privy to the inner workings and plans of Nissan corp. HOWEVER, his "prediction" logically seems to be imo, spot on w/what we'll most likely see happen for the '12 model year...
