YM 2014 should see IRS and a lighter car. Muscle cars came about in an era where either you turned fast, or you accelerated fast. Doing both wasn't easily accomplished with the technology on hand regarding engines and suspension. Now days, a muscle-car is just a vehicle that the manufacturer scrimped on in the suspension/weight reduction R&D department.

As mentioned previously, I lived the heyday of the 1960's muscle car era, owning several. None "turned fast". These cars were limited by inferior steering/suspension technology where "handling" meant stiffer springs and shocks. Other than the Corvette IRS, the most advanced suspensions came from Oldsmobile on its 442, the first to used tuned front and rear sway bars.
The other, major limiting factor was the very inferior tire technology of the day.
The handling and steering of today's muscle cars are light-years ahead of those from the 1960's.

So the point is that us Z owners want to win against a mustang 5.0, we need to challenge them at the dragon.
