We've talked about the m56 a few times and it could be a good option. Ultimately its personal preference and more importantly fitment. I know the LSX motors will fit in the 350s but not sure if these bigger OHC v8s will fit.

As far as the vr38... that becomes pretty damn expensive, and, well, if you want a v8 its obviously not on the list. Anyone have an idea what a crate vr38dett runs? I'm guessing an arm and a leg.

well, the gtr transmission alone costs 20k, so the engine you can guess will be about 35-40k or so, right? by the time you factor in the cost of all the extra parts and the fees for the mechanics who will do the fitment, i'll be much cheaper just to trade in the z for a gtr. of course, these custom projects are never about good value for the money but more about innovation and creativity and pushing the boundaries of what can be done
