upgrading? at least the z is somewhat unique and rare. mustangs, i see about a couple dozen of them everyday. pretty much the only car i see more often is the camry.

with the money you'll lose in a trade, you can turbocharge the z. you'll get as much power as the mustang in a smaller chassis with better suspension, and retain a car that still has a fresh new look that still turns heads.

it would be a performance upgrade. I agree that the Z looks better and will probably age better because it's less common. But let's not kid ourselves, the Stang can be upgraded to be faster than an upgraded Z.

Still, I think both are fantastic sports cars.

don't forget that you'll get hit when it comes to resale value, just because they're so common.

Atleast in my area Mustangs hold their value very well. There is always someone who wants a Mustang

Whats your beef with the Stang'? Did you get beat up by a Stang owner in highschool or something. The new Mustang IMO preforms great and looks much better then the previous generation. And I'm no 5 OH fanboy

His mom got run over by a Stang when he was really young... it then touched him in all the "right" areas

no beef or anything. still, you tell me you're not bothered by the fact that a car in the 21st century still has a solid rear axle? and this is from a company that put IRS on its full size SUV? talk about irony!

I don't see what the big deal is if 1) it pwns for drag racing and 2) it still kicks our IRS's *** on a race track.

well, it's called "modernity". a nascar carburettor engine puts out what, 800hp or so? should we revert back from fuel injection to carburetion? your first point, i won't contest. the second one, i question. i'm not saying the mustang will be a turd on the track. it'll probably handle good. but i see a lot of people claiming it will own the z or outhandle the z or whatever, but i havent seen anyone post evidence of it. on paper, slalom and skidpad are close to but not as good as the z. i haven't seen any head to head comparisons or laptimes that show a mustang besting a z. i remember top gear had a roush mustang power lap that was almost as good as the z but a fraction slower. that's the closest to a comparison test i've seen. you're not really suggesting a mustang would rival a cayman s or lotus exige, are you?

I don't think anyone's claimed it would outhandle the Z, but from what I've read, it's supposedly not far behind in that department. And it's definitely more powerful, more torquey in the low rev ranges. The rumor is that it's nearly as fast as an M3.
