The Chargers and later, the Magnums were pretty much the same car save for a few cosmetic differences. I was close friends with a girl in college that had a '78 Magnum with T-tops, and another guy had a '75 Charger - both had the same chassis and mostly the same body as the Cordobas.

They were coined "Personal Luxury Cars' back in the 70s and competed directly with the Monte Carlos, Thunderbirds, and Cougars of the day. All had long hoods, 2 doors, a relatively cramped back seat (especially given the size of the cars), and they were big heavy boats with emissions choked V8s that were a shadow of the muscle car era that they followed. Still, I have a soft spot for 70s cars and trucks since I'm 48 and that's what most of us drove back in the late 80s. I still have a '77 Ford 4x4 shortbed F150.

I too remember the Ricardo Monteblan ads touting the "fine Corinthian leather", (a term that's completely made up by Chrysler, BTW)....lol. I always joked about how many Corinthians they had to skin to upholster a Cordoba....haha

I think the market is going to build on these 70s cars. You see it at the auctions. For one thing, not many survived the demolition derby scene, or the east coast salt. Since they weren't that well made to begin with, a lot just got scrapped instead of maintained / Restored. Their rarity I think will drive value. As for restoration parts, google is your friend. I'm sure there's some things available, and I'm sure somethings are nearly unobtanium, but I think that given the sentimental value of the car with you and your Dad, it would be worth exploring.

Back in the '80's. You couldn't get the carbs or the rebuild kits for the 426 Hemi with the inline 2 4bbls. So a lot of them was switched over to a single Holley 4bbl. Starting in the 2000's. Mopar started producing the carbs and kits again.

He would tell me the only guy who could beat him had a Charger though he could jump him off the line and if they went a mile he'd reel him back in. Now it gets started about once a year and that's it. It does need work and I'd like to get it fully restored one day so I'm wondering where would be a good place to start looking for parts both OEM and aftermarket. The Cordoba's never came with a manual transmission, but that would be fun conversion if possible. Would like to completely build the engine up and throw on dual Holley carbs. To start it needs a new radiator as the current one has a hole in it so that car can't be ran for too long. Figure a nice large aluminium one would be nice.

Anyways, thanks for looking and appreciate any input/suggestions. I've learned a lot about the Z, but am not of the age to have been around pre-fuel injected engines that much

Specs:
Chrysler 400 cu in (6.6L) V8 B engine
260hp/410tq
8.2:1 compression
4-barrel carb w/ dual exhaust
3 speed auto trans
I would get the car running.Get your radiator.Drive and enjoy as 1970s fun.
I know the car has a lot of meaning.
Not a car you want to restore.
If you go through a full restoration.Motor ,tranny, body and interior you will have 4 times what the car is worth into restoration.
Get it going for as cheap as you can and enjoy the car as it is.Have Fun with it.
