Run and get your box of kleenex, that Ford would blow the doors off your Z!

based on what? do you have any performance data or have you seen any performance tests that would back up such a ridiculously nonsensical claim?

a car with less horsepower, more mass, skinnier wheels and tires, weaker brakes and ancient suspension would blow the door off a more powerful lighter car with better wheels tires brakes and a modern advanced track tuned suspension. yep, makes lots of sense

You do realize we are talking about the 5.0L Mustang here right?
It has more power and torque than the Z.
The 2011 will have a BBK, finally.
Larger wheels and tires, which I believe come with the BBK option.
Again, the only thing the Mustang does that you do not like is the solid rear axle which while not ideal has proven to do very well in road racing, auto-x, drifting, and of course straight line.

considering that the 2011 mustang doesn't even exist yet, it's premature to draw any conclusions about its performance, making dad's statement nonsense. It looks like it may be faster in a straight line than the z. On a track, its not so clear. regardless, the car hasn't even been manufactured yet, so one cannot logically and confidently make any claim regarding its performance. now the mustang that does exist, the 2009 and 2010 MY cars are SLOWER in every manner including a straight line than the Z despite having a bigger engine with more displacement. Quite pathetic really considering the entire raison d'etre for mustangs and "muscle" cars in general is supposed to be incredible straight line speed

The price difference from what I have read won't be too bad compared to the 2010 gt. So does this mean the 2011 stang will come in 3 trims? I kinda hope this thing sells well looking forward to having more competion out there!

Really, I am just out to defend the truth like most everyone else in this thread that can recognize a good car when they see it.
Agreed.

Put simply, the Mustang is NOT a sports car. The Mustang is a muscle car or sports coupe, however you want to phrase it. The Z is a sports car. They just don't compare.

I don't care if they have roughly the same power and are about as fast as one another... they aren't in the same class.
Completely agreed.
