Moving to San Jose, commute time

We agreed on a salary, but they need to pay more to help me relocate, lets see if they are willing to offer something up front to convince us to

We agreed on a salary, but they need to pay more to help me relocate, lets see if they are willing to offer something up front to convince us to move. There is no way I can fly out there without them paying us any cash up front as California rapes everyone. I found out the Lexus I bought 9 months ago has to pay sales taxes!!! That's almost $2500!.

I am looking for a townhome to rent, hope to stay below $2500. No way i can afford to buy again dragging two bad mortgages

The prices for the houses are going up and up...

I've lived and went to high school near Cupertino... I would say if you have a chance live in Sunnyvale/Cupertino/Mountain View (best schools to resident price ratio)... i mean drive near those areas and you'll see what i mean...

Also there are quite a few apartments in Palo Alto area that are near Palo Alto School district that has Stanford professors come out and teach some of the classes... just heads up...

Also commute from San Jose to Mountain View between 7:30 am to 9:30 (15 miles... is about 40 minutes @ 15/20 mph on 101 North)... that's my daily commute... so i'm speaking from experience... hit me up if you need more opinion or help

Ok...for sale

1758 Darwin Way
San Jose CA 95122 - 350k

3006 Warrington Ave
San Jose CA 95127 - 450k

232 Velvetlake Dr
Sunnyvale CA 94089 - 475

814 Lakehaven Dr
Sunnyvale CA 94089 - 510k

Looks to me prices are starting around the 350-425k range.

And you can find sfr's in the 1.1M for 1500sqft but I'm fairly sure he wasn't looking for homes priced in that range.

Cbtech, the homes you listed are in some of the worse areas, in the South Bay, known to man-kind... no offense to anyone on the forums who may live there.

I already look. It's not remotely possible to get a single family house for $600K with a good school system. I am just going to rent for like $2000-$2500. With my luck, the freaking housing market will tank as soon as I buy something anyway. I will most likely stay in the Santa Clara/Sunnyvale area as I need to be close to my wife's work. She accepted the job, now we just have to wait for the paperwork, rent our house out (have a tenant i think) and start driving to California

So renting a townhome for max $2500/month in the Peninsula (south of SF) is not possible if not ending up in a gated area somewhere (SJ, EPA...), For that price you might wanna look into East Bay: Freemont and co.
As per the commute SJ to Palo Alto be aware the morning/evening traffic is ridiculously intense when it's not intense.

exactly. the nicer areas are minimum 600k. you're looking realistically at 700-800k in the cambrian park area or almaden area (nicest part of san jose imo)

We are flexible, it all depends on what I see when I get there
