From cookzmonster

"Quick update everyone! Matt (bigaudiofanat) was willing to travel to my location here (about 8 hours) on his own time and on his own dime to help take care of my audio system. I would give anything to find customer service like that in any of the other industries and businesses that I own and work with, much respect to him! He spent EIGHT days working to make things right for me here and I couldn't have asked for a better person to do it. We had lots of delays and slow downs during the process including everything from UPS mis-deliveries, to dishonest people to "out-of-stock" problems but Matt was a trooper. He willingly missed his GF's birthday AND his own birthday to be here working on my system. There are a few loose ends to button up and I am looking forward to the fully finished masterpiece. With Matt's permission I (and he) will be sharing some pics but I want to make sure I have everything in order before I start posting all of his hard work. More details and updates to come"

"Matt was a trooper." - Are you related to forum member TROOPER? :p
"He willingly missed his GF's birthday" - Do you hate her that much Matt? jk of course ;)

Great work as always Matt just further corroborating what we all knew about our very own in-house A/V Z Specialist

Hey looking forward to seeing you out this for your next gig; you'll do wonderful as always.

I need to make it to one of the get togethers one time. I can come out as far as West Virginia now that I have done it for cookzmonster.

I need to pimp out the Altima and head to a meet.

birdmanx1 07-14-2011 11:04 AM

Heyyyyyy congrats on the Altima, lovely and fun car. Pimp it out and come show it off in MD

enkei2k 07-14-2011 08:48 PM

do you also happen to make custom sub boxes? I already have the amp, sub and wiring kit (trying to sell here but no luck, so i might as well throw it in my car lol) and I'm looking to have someone help me make a sub box to fit in my spare tire compartment. non-370Z though.

thanks.

Thanks man I am loving it however not loving the team nissan dealership. Oh well

As for the question about the sub box I can make one we would have to discuss what you want it made out of and what size and depth the sub is also how much air space it needs.

Bump!!!

Question....I'm planning on getting a base model and upgrading the sound. What do you think about this setup?

Alpine w910
Jl hd 900/5
Stereo Integrity 12" sub
Alpine H800 processor
Still deciding on what components to get and whether to go 2 way active or 3 way (passive or active)

I see you are very knowledable with audio equip, so your help is appreciated.

I'd be interested in a basic sealed box since those are smaller and easier to build. After looking into it, not really wanting the ported box.

Material - I'm not sure, 1/2" birch with fiberglass resin inside is what I hear people recommend for best quality, but I am open to what you suggest as well since you're for sure more knowledgeable about this than me.

What would the typical turnaround time be for building a simple sealed box...say 12"x12"x9"?
Thanks.

I would go with everything except the stereo integrity sub. Look at a alpine type r or a Hertz instead.

All and all a great system for being on a budget. The owner who works for a used car dealership has seen some of the worst audio installs ever. He was worried about this happening to his vehicle. However he was not only blown away by the quality of the install but the sound of it as well. I was very impressed myself with the polk mm 5.25 speakers. VERY CLEAR FOR THEIR SIZE!!!

As always please ask any questions and please leave comments.

Matt, are you free this weekend? I left a few calls on your cell, not sure if you got 'em...

Equinox 08-29-2011 06:03 PM

Matt, I'm powering an eletric pump controller/pump. The pump is 14 awg, and plugs into the controller, then the controller power is about 10 awg. Is there a pickup somewhere on the Z that I can use to power it other than directly from the battery? The pump is on the exterior back of the car where the muffler can used to be, and the controller is in the spare tire well. I was considering running the power under the car on the outside (to the battery if I have too). I haven't decided.

Also, what is your opinion of distribution blocks, and when they should be used?

Not that thick for stock. I would run a relay that way you can run any gauge directly form the battery. use something like your 12 volt plug for the switching on and off source.
