Hey
I just installed a Kenwood DNX7100 and got everything to work except for the cd/dvd drive. When I put a disc in, it would say disc error. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks |
any experience with this?

hey Fanat,
I actually have a question. I just bought a used car, and it has a stock stereo in it, but as it is used, it may have had an aftermarket headunit before. I know it has stock door speakers. Anyhowl; The problem is, while the car is off, and sitting, it will intermittantly make a popping noise, like a "power to the speaker, then non" bass hit. Something like once every 5 minutes. It is draining my car, so when I get in, it has a weak battery. :( car is a 2006 porsche 911 Carrera S. Bad ground somewhere? |

Nah, the Bose was a factory option, this one doesn't have it (thankfully). When I was uninstalling the Factory radio, I noticed pry marks on it from being removed (poorly) before. I imagine the owner before me had an aftermarket stereo in the car, and put the stock one in for resale. Anyhow, taking apart the center console, it appears the owner had spilled coffee into the radio, and was causing a grounding short, and thus the power drain. Replacing the stereo with my Kenwood Excelon DNX9140 did the trick. Looks great in the car too. :) |

Ok got the owner to send me the pics, have some more to come so please be patient!!!
Trimmed the battery terminal cover to allow for the power wire to come out. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0209.jpg Work in progress pics of the power wire wake up wire and so on. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0210.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0212.jpg Organizing all the wires, zip tied every 6 inches or so. The two grommets towards the top of the rear seats provide great locations to run wires. NOTE make sure to cover them with some kind ot rubber rap and or shielding. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0213.jpg Labeled all the outputs for the amps as for quick reference. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0214.jpg Battery grounded, made sure there was no resistance for this ground. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0217.jpg Amps installed on new rack http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0224.jpg Owner wanted easy access to his bass knob and radar http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0221.jpg Wiring up all the power wires!! http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...F/IMG_0225.jpg |

http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r.../photo2-16.jpg [QUOTE] can u give me the outline of that amp mount for the 370z?? looks real good! |
Can not remember off the top of my head. I know I measured the width of the opening and subtracted about a 1/2 inch
|
thanks... but by the look of that pic... dont think my amps will fit like that... due to the JL jx360/4 and 500/1 slash 2 are bigger....
|
I visited Matt over the weekend to have my Kenwood double DIN installed, as well as JL component speakers for my 370. The job was done in a few hours and I left very happy that I decided to hit him up instead of a local stereo shop. Matt's prices are fair and on top of that, he's a personable guy that knows his stuff. I'll be giving him my repeat business for future projects.

http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-03112754.jpg Will be installed a little later. I stuffed a little bit of poly fill to help keep vibration down. Keep in mind that I am by no means an expert and wrapping fabric!!! I know there is a bit of overlay behind the speaker. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-03125253.jpg |
Last year I worked on a members z and put the fallowing in:
Kenwood 9980 head unit JBL MS8 Hertz Mile speakers Hertz sub Audison 5.1K amp The owner wanted even more sound so I came back this week to do "stage 2" You have already seen this thread for the speaker pods I made. Now he is the rest. Added: Focal FPS 21160 amp Hertz Hi-Energy coaxial speakers"rears" Kinetick KHC140 battery Kicker 0 gauge battery Stinger fans Second battery added checking charging. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-03191602.jpg Because there are two amps and fans, I decided to run a relay coming off the remote output of the MS8. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-03191613.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-04121730.jpg Few pictures of the amps and powered on. http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-04173628.jpg http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-04142355.jpg |
