I know RIGHT

You could mistake it for the start button.

It is probably part of the ECU located on the right hand side of the car under the kick panel.

Hey

I just installed a Kenwood DNX7100 and got everything to work except for the cd/dvd drive. When I put a disc in, it would say disc error. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks

RandyD 12-18-2011 12:21 PM

any experience with this?

hey Fanat,

I actually have a question.

I just bought a used car, and it has a stock stereo in it, but as it is used, it may have had an aftermarket headunit before. I know it has stock door speakers. Anyhowl;

The problem is, while the car is off, and sitting, it will intermittantly make a popping noise, like a "power to the speaker, then non" bass hit. Something like once every 5 minutes. It is draining my car, so when I get in, it has a weak battery. :(

car is a 2006 porsche 911 Carrera S. Bad ground somewhere?

It sound like you should try a rest of the head unit. If that does not work it is time to call kenwood.

I have not, in my experience pyle just does not make things that hold up well. I would check out some of the neat screens they have at crutchfield. Or maybe even integrate one into your sun visor?

Hmm sounds either like you have a power gremlin and or your radio is draining a lot more power than it should. I think that car has a bose system. Either way the stock amps relay could be stick in the closed position allowing power to be drained while the car is off.

Fanat,
Nah, the Bose was a factory option, this one doesn't have it (thankfully). When I was uninstalling the Factory radio, I noticed pry marks on it from being removed (poorly) before. I imagine the owner before me had an aftermarket stereo in the car, and put the stock one in for resale. Anyhow, taking apart the center console, it appears the owner had spilled coffee into the radio, and was causing a grounding short, and thus the power drain. Replacing the stereo with my Kenwood Excelon DNX9140 did the trick. Looks great in the car too. :)

I was gonna say, when my PC was hit by a power surge it would pop the speakers every few seconds (even though it was powered off)... sounds like something was shorted out. Replacement is your best/only option.

I am currently working on a 3 day ISF full audio build.

can u give me the outline of that amp mount for the 370z?? looks real good!

bigaudiofanat 03-09-2012 05:45 PM

Can not remember off the top of my head. I know I measured the width of the opening and subtracted about a 1/2 inch

TommyL 03-09-2012 07:13 PM

thanks... but by the look of that pic... dont think my amps will fit like that... due to the JL jx360/4 and 500/1 slash 2 are bigger....

Vertigo 03-11-2012 03:32 PM

I visited Matt over the weekend to have my Kenwood double DIN installed, as well as JL component speakers for my 370. The job was done in a few hours and I left very happy that I decided to hit him up instead of a local stereo shop. Matt's prices are fair and on top of that, he's a personable guy that knows his stuff. I'll be giving him my repeat business for future projects.

bigaudiofanat 04-07-2012 08:42 AM

Last year I worked on a members z and put the fallowing in:

Kenwood 9980 head unit
JBL MS8
Hertz Mile speakers
Hertz sub
Audison 5.1K amp

The owner wanted even more sound so I came back this week to do "stage 2"

You have already seen this thread for the speaker pods I made.

Now he is the rest.

Added:

Focal FPS 21160 amp
Hertz Hi-Energy coaxial speakers"rears"
Kinetick KHC140 battery
Kicker 0 gauge battery
Stinger fans

Second battery added checking charging.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...4-03191602.jpg

Because there are two amps and fans, I decided to run a relay coming off the remote output of the MS8.
