Hey,

I don't know if this is off-topic or not.

I'm planning to do a car pc installation in my Z, and wanted to see if theres enough space to mount a 7" LCD inside the cubby area.

I'm guessing custom fabrication of the cubby area will be required, but I'm not sure if the space is deep enough for the monitor itself + all wiring parts of the monitor.

Have you done it for any of your customers yet? Or at least explored that possibility?

Thanks in advance!

bigaudiofanat 07-05-2010 10:34 PM

I would think a 7 inch would fit in the cubby. I was going to do a major customization with a ipad but I have never heard back from the customer. I know what you mean and I think most if not all will fit in the cubby or behind the dash.

What would be a good front and rear parking sensor setup for a 370Z? And how much would an install cost? :)

bigaudiofanat 07-25-2010 10:04 AM

Never done parking sensors most people just do rear view cameras and call it a day. That is what I would recommend over beeping sounds.

TROOPER 07-26-2010 12:47 PM

Hey guys, just updating on my Audio install done by Matt on Friday.

Here is a link to the album:
Nissan 370Z Forum - TROOPER's Album: Audio Install

Great day and everything went pretty smoothly, even in the 98 degree heat working on a black car LOL.

We installed an Alpine head unit, Alpine 4ch amp driving Polk Audio Components,
a Rockford Fosgate Punch sub amp, and Rockford Fosgate 12" sub.
Along with a ZEnclosures sub box, and dynamat on the doors.

Matt certainly knows his way around a 370Z, and I also learned alot about my car from the install.

We did even use lube at one point to get the power cable through the firewall, and for some reason that conversation went on much longer than it should of..!!

We also managed to insult midgets (sorry "little people"), and many other hysterical moments during the day.

But hearing the final result and the massive improvement in my audio system, was just awesome.

I'm now cranking out Iron Maiden at several hundred watts wherever I go ;)

bigaudiofanat 07-26-2010 11:32 PM

Thanks man it was a blast!

Anyone looking for a install in Tennessee let me know I will be heading over there the 6th of next month for a week and would not mind doing a few installs while over that way.

We installed the Polk Audio db6501 components.. great improvement over stock.

Polk Audio db6501 - 6-1/2" Component Speakers System - Sonic Electronix

Even at extreme low volume (1 or 2) on the head unit, you can still hear crystal clear, although it's quiet obviously LOL
But that seems like a good sign of quality to me.

These also fit without spacers :)

When the Kenwood screen was installed in place of the stock radio system.. wasn't it at an awkward viewing angle for the driver? Wasn't there any problems such as glare, etc.? And if I am searching for a screen unit to be installed in place of OEM radio... does it have to be of a certain size or do they all fit?

bigaudiofanat 08-03-2010 09:24 AM

Any double din head unit will fit and having the screen sit straight and not at an angle towards the driver there was no problem that I ever heard of.
