I doubt they will... maybe... who knows?
OK, back to giving my cat a bath.
A 4-seater 2-door coupe version would be interesting. It could be a de-luxury'ed Q60. I'd be down for that. I don't need luxe. I just want modernly comfortable with sporty handling and that tt VR engine and a few hundred lbs lighter than the Q. I'll take it in either 2 or 4 seater format a long as it's a coupe. If the Q60 dropped 300 lbs, I would be in on that now probably.
Magic Bus and Zingston like this.

I test drove a mazda miata rf (with the retractable steel roof) before buying the 2016 nismo and I really liked that car, it was just way too small of an interior for me. I'd Love to see the next incarnation of the Z have a similar retractable steel roof configuration. I prefer that to the steel convertibles on the bmw's and the benz. I know it would decrease the available space in the back storage area but maybe Nissan could create a few more hidden storage section behind the driver's seat

If Nissan is looking to appeal to a wider distribution of buyers, I think a 2+2 option for the Z might be a decent compromise. Better than no Z!

If they do that? The skyline (Q60) is good enough. Nissan is a bunch o bitches. So many cars selling 6,000 units a year and getting redesigned thoroughly. ie. Lexus GS

Exactly why I got the M2. Sports car handling, 7 inches shorter then the Q60, only 100 lbs heavier then the Z, 370 hp & tq. The M2 is selling at MSRP or a little higher, wait list of still 6 months to a year and it's going on to it's 3rd model year. So there is a very good market for this type of car.

With Nissan's new tt engines, they could definitely compete here. Take out some of the luxe and make it pricey options, as the M2 has a lot. If Nissan made it a real Nismo drivers car and priced it in the high 30's for base (no frills) and mid 40's top end. I'd have gotten that instead of the M2.

Wrong. The 2+2 Z of any model is an abomination.

My question is a bit theoretical and probably highly arguable, but.

Is it possible Nissan is trying to kill off the Z? Several factors come into play that lead to this question other than the fact the Z34 is almost 10 years old.

1- The father of Datsun died in 2015 and since then all concepts, major talks of releasing a new Z has died around the same time. It was widely speculated and spoken about that Nissan never wanted Datsun or the Z to survive and have attempted several times to kill it off.
2 - Regarding the first, this was around the same time Nissan North America stopped all backing of racing programs and aftermarket support for the Z.
3 - Nissan/Infiniti brokered a new deal with Mercedes and Renault to start a completely different car line up revolved around economy transportation and E/V technology.
4 - The car is coming along 10 years old and Nissan has cancelled its concept release 3 years in a row since 2014 when it first stated they were working on one and would release a concept at the 2015 Tokyo autoshow. Instead they brought a concept CUV car (which i may add is cool, but not the Z that was promised).
5- Nissan has invested significant time in creating the next generation R36 GT-R where as this was the Fairlady's only design rival in the Nissan/Infiniti branch.
6 - Lastly, The new generation Infiniti Q60 was finished and released by 2016, around the same time the Z was announced to be in development. Where as the G37 before was released and designed around the same time the Z34 and R35 was designed and released. This to me means Nissan has no intentions of sharing the same platform or even assembly process with any other sports car like previous generations.

All this leads back to argument number 1.

I didn't post it for shock value. If they are not selling, they won't be built. See gap between Z32 and Z33 for details.

I don't know how many times I have to post that Nissan officially stated the 2019 Z35 would be debuted at the Auto show this fall....
