THIS is f*cking sex. I don't care for a roadster, but imagine this as a coupe... If the production car looks like this and comes in this color I am buying one IMMEDIATELY.

Via @yasiddesign on Instagram.
It appears they changed the front with the follow:
"..a slightly longer hood,... front grill, just break it down just a little bit. And... slanted front nose.." and maybe tweaked the headlights just a tad

I mean this is just perfection. Aggressive yet sleek, clean, and beautiful at the same time. Realistically they probably can't extend the wheelbase as much as this, but even if they just change the front end to match this... ooooh f*ck me.

So nothing to do with Nissan. OK.

I'm glad Nissan confirmed another Z is coming, but now we have even MORE questions than we did before.

I'm about 99% sure that the new Z will have blindspot alert. Look at the first image, that has to be a blind spot sensor on the side B pillar. Also, if you look closely at the interior image; the side mirror has a LED light indicator inside the mirror. I'd be willing to bet that is a blindspot warning light.

A lot of people in this thread have highlighted how close to the Z34 platform it is.
In this video, I use some overlays of the Z Proto and the 370Z Nismo 2015+ showing where the additional length is...

I also talk about a few other things, including the aero issues with the shape that I think they'll use an active aero on the rear boot (like the F-Type)...
I thought some of you might be interested...

Why would it cause aerodynamics issues?
Having a electronic spoiler would be a nice touch

I'll be in my bunk!

Basically, the shape is like an aircraft wing. The roofline with the sloping rear accelerates air over the top which reduces pressure and creates lift. At high speeds this will reduce stability... An active aero extension will redirect air upwards at the rear and disrupt the flow so it is slowed (increasing pressure above the car), at the expense of some drag – but preventing/reducing lift. The Jaguar F-Type has the same issue and this is the solution it uses.

Early mk1 Audi TTs had the same problem and they had to be recalled and fitted with a fixed duck-tail spoiler due to the car becoming highly unstable over 90mph – which was very relevant in Germany as their autobahns have no speed limits. In the next generation they brought in an active aero element on the tail of the trunk/boot.

The alternative approach for the Z Proto would either to ruin the shape with a fixed duck-tail or heavily manage the airflow under the car to accelerate the air under the car to overcome the lift (with downforce) or at least equalise it... But ground-effect aero is quite expensive to develop and manufacture... Hence why it's usually found on supercars.

Below supercars, most road cars generate some lift. The 2015+ 370Z claims to have zero lift (which is actually quite an achievement on a sports car in this sector). It solved it with a number of attributes, but significantly it had the fixed duck-tail spoiler. Hopefully, the new Z will have something similar to the Jaguar F-type instead.

I hope that helps.

Before the PROTO pics came out,I saw a new Mustang in a parking lot.
Side view just like this one. I said, the Mustang sure did take some tips from the Z.
Now the new PROTO Z looks much like a Mustang.

Crazy

"So what have I done here?
I elongated the front end/hood area, for old time's sake. A better hommage to the timeless datsuns, yes please? I reworked on the front bumper, giving it a longer and more pronounced nose. and that grill... is looking less like sponge sucker squarepants.
The rear panel is also completely in carbon fiber. I decided to pull the carbon fiber finish way down instead of just where the taillights are, and I think it's much better."

This is 100% what I would love to see. Even just making the rear part under the tail lights in carbon fiber/black looks so good now. It hides that big hump in the back. Even though Nissan realistically won't elongate the wheel base, if they just made the front grille/fascia similar to this they'd have a one of the best looking sports cars out right now.
