Probably will be over 50k. Too bad, but no matter to me, I love my 370

By the time this car comes out in 2020/2021 as expected 400-475hp will be nothing. Cars like the camaro and stang are already hitting 460hp for under 40k in a chasis that can handle as good as any sports car. Japan in general is just slacking these days

I hope they don't call it the 400Z... wtf does the 400 stand for? The number was always based on engine displacement, even when it was twin turbo'd. |
This sounds great if Nissan can do it right. While Honda messed up the new NSX (New Supercar eXperience) and created a UF458WX (Used Ferrari 458 wannabe eXperience) and Toyota mistakenly used the 10-year-old 370Z as the performance benchmark for the 2019 Supra, this will be the chance for the Z to shine.

One question, Why are they going to have a 3.0 Liter V6 and name it a 400Z?.... Load of Rubbish!

Hope it has two cupholders in the console...

I would strongly advise being skeptical of this article. |
It will be a crossover. I’m almost sure of it. Mitsubishi just released the new Eclipse and it’s a damn crossover. Guess who now owns Mitsubishi? Yep, Nissan! There is no money to be made in releasing a pure sports car.

Sounds good / maybe / I will have a wait and see attitude

THE Z has the potential to be 400lbs lighter, much shorter wheelbase, lower to the ground and have that traditional Z layout and seating position. I have a camaro. Yes it was that good to drop my Z after many years of ownership but... an updated Z following its true sports car characteristic would be a different experience. It would feel much more special. |

I’d love to see a new Z. But, in the low probability that these rumors are true, this would likely be a badge-engineered Infiniti Q60 Coupe, sharing as many parts as possible.
Unfortunately, that almost certainly would mean no manual transmission, which would mean no chance that I’d buy one. No stick = no sale for me. |
yep, 300Z would be the right name, and it's not a sports car without a manual.
|
Lol I expect another useless article with: insert *Nissan exec* stating there will be no new Z in the near future...
That 475 Nismo Z sounds good but don’t expect it to come with a manual transmission. |
|
I just got back from JAPAN and I have it on good authority that the next Z will have BUTT MASSAGERS. PRE-ORDER STARTS IN 2019.

I don't care too much about any of the details other than it needs to have a manual option w/ RWD.
Anxious to hear more throughout 2018 hopefully. |

did i dream it all? wtf..... :wtf2: |
imo there is no future in which Nissan actually does well with the new z (assuming there will be one) when they haven't changed much from 2009 model till 2018 expect for a few minor things here n there... oh and you got them doing s*!t like this.

May have to get back into a Z...
Nissan '400Z' Is Reportedly Happening With a 475-HP Nismo Version |
There was a Jalopnik article as a response to this newest run of 'news' saying he will believe there is a new Z when it shows up on lots.

Just about any 2 Liter+ engine out now has good performance capabilities...if you tune it right. You can slap a turbo on almost anything nowadays and the right tune and get 600+hp. There is nothing special about the RB or 2J motor that's worth bragging about. They're cheapo cast iron blocks with turbos strapped to them....End of story.:tiphat: |
Quote:
They are easily capable of 1000+ hp reliably because their cast iron block. They are still remarkable engines, not to even mention the natural balance of an I6. |
Inquiring minds have to know ...... with the proposed 2021 Nismo generating 475hp, why does anyone need more? You're pretty darn close to Corvette territory which weighs as much as a Nismo! The Stangs & Chevys weigh more than a 1000lbs more than the Nissan (Power-to-weight guys). A tricked out stock ZL1 Camero's sticker will run you into the mid $60K before taxes and I can't imagine how much insurance will set you back. I have issues with the "more hp is better" crowd. I spoke with a guy that has a Hellcat and says it's a fun car UNLESS you're on cold tires or in the rain. Meaning that you can find yourself in a hell of a situation and in the ditch if you're not completely focused.
Just my two cents fellas. 475hp is plenty for my fast cornering manners. Figtuna |
