so my question hasn't been answered yet:

If I take the springs off of a Nismo 370Z and put on my standard 370Z, will it solve the problem? In other words, are the springs in the Nismos longer than those in the standard?

Stop by a stealership and ask to look at a Nismo version. Pop the trunk and you'll be able to tell if it is the longer spring.

I believe someone reported they found the "bigger" springs on 2009 coupes, either the dealership started replacing them or they are coming from factory this way.

does anyone know if the 2010s have this problem resolved? Or are the 2010s having the same issue?

I just went to the dealership and showed them this post and they ordered a replacement for mine. They're gonna call me when it's in. I'll let you know how it goes. But yeah, Nissan really needs to take responsibility for this and release a TSB for this.

there was a TSB for the Z33, seems natural that there would be one for the 34....

I took my car in today to the NIssan dealership.

They were very helpful and said they would take care of it.

WHen I got there the dam hatch was working so they could not do anything about it because they had to actually see it.

So from what I can tell it is only doing it during cold temperatures. Usually when I go to work now it is about 50 degrees in Florida and this is when the hatch release gets stuck the most.

They told me to drop it off over night one day so they can see if they can replicate the problem.

Other than that I was glad to know from them that as long as I bring it back within the factory warranty that they would pay to get it fixed.

Mine has been getting stuck & it seems to be getting worse everyday. So if I buy 2 of the longer springs, will it fix my problem?

I took my car to the dealership about 2 months ago and fortunately the hatch was stuck when they came out to inspect it. They clearly saw that it was a problem, I was told there was no "new" part number. I was getting frustrated so the manager said, "I'll just order you replacements and will call you when they come in."

As I stated in the first sentence, it has been 2 months and I haven't received a phone call. I enjoyed my 350Z and I enjoy my 370Z but this will be my last Nissan.

This was probably posted somewhere through out this thread, however if you do not know what the "penny trick" is, then here is a link to the How To.

09 nismo has the short springs also, i put 3 washers (slightly larger than pennies) on the springs as mentioned earlier, and glued the boot on to make sure it stays put, 1 minute fix and works fine after, not worth taking it to the dealer f#@$ing nissan!

got mine taken car of with no issues... with a dealer i did not buy my car from. hard to tell whether or not the people having issues getting it taken care of should blame the dealers or themselves for not pushing the issue enough. i pushed the issue, spoke to the service manager, and it was done. the tech got paid, the shop got paid, and my problem was taken care of. noone had to sacrifice anything.
