Seriously, I know some of you guys are afraid of going to the dealer (understandably) but it is literally a couple minute job and you can stand over them while they do it.

I totally agree that it is a 'couple minute job' YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY NUTS if you think it will take NISSAN a couple of minutes to do ANYTHING!

My service manager laughed when I said it was a 2-minute job. He said, uh, not quite. I didn't say anything but I had the urge to smack him. I waited 45 minutes, had a cup of coffee and chatted with the sales guys while they pretended it was a big job. lol.

Imagine, there are other countries beside the USA. My dealer refuses to replace the springs cause there is no TSB from Nissan Europe.

Nissan (Sweden) has actually helped me as much as they can, despite the lack of a European TSB. As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, the maintenance manager found the new parts number (as per the US TSB) in the Nissan computerized spare parts system and ordered it.

Then when I was also unhappy with the new replacements, he ordered the longer version, which belongs to another Nissan model.

Today, I returned to the dealer with the gap problem and I now have both versions to experiment with.

A photo of the penny trick would be nice to see from someone.

I believe Nissan in Germany and/or Belgium still have an obligation to make the car work properly while it is under warranty, even without a TSB? Just tell Nissan it is their problem to solve and see what they do.

Good luck.

I've come to the conclusion on this thing that there is no issue. Simply hold the button for more than a split second (1 and a half seconds to be exact) and it opens every time.

RTFM!

I have to call BS on you here, and take offense to you RTFM'ing me.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I went out to my car yesterday morning, pressed and held the button while counting to five. Fail.
Had to press the button a second time to release the hatch completely. This is typically how it works on my 2009.

+1
I could hold the button until my finger went numb. It still wouldn't open without hitting the button at least once more. Sometimes three or four times.

Each press of the button cycles the latch in my car. Holding the button does not create a constant open circuit. Maybe they have a different relay in their cars which allows them hold a constant open latch.

I took your advice, and I haven't had this issue return.

LOL. It took me longer to read that than it took me to put in the "penny fix". I added the pennies on 8/31/09 and have not had a single failure since, absolutely NONE.
