I took the suggestion someone else posted and started taking videos with my phone of the sticking so if it happened to not stick when at the dealers I would have proof that it does stick.

I went by the dealer and sure enough it opened right up with one push of the button. However, the dealer didn't even question it and just ordered the replacement. Will have it in this week for the installation.

went to the garage. nissan hasn't issued the spring replacement in belgium yet. but they lowered the part where the hatch latches unto so that it is a tighter fit meaning the springs fly open harder causing the hatch to open up without any problems

I got this done today at the dealer and now I can hear some more road noise and there is a noticeable gap between the hatch and the body.

Is there a way to adjust the new springs? I might just go back to the original springs and pop the hatch twice. lol

Give it a little time, they will probably settle at least a little. Haven't heard of anyone else having more noise after the swap

yeah i haven't noticed a noise change either... man you must have got uber srpings...

what i'd be worried about is water leaking in if the gap is large enough...

My car just started doing this every once and while. It is very annoying. Guess I'm gonna have to take it in and hope they fix it.

UPDATE: Got my new springs the other day and now the hatch pops up like a charm. To me the new springs didn't look much different than the old ones, other than being stiffer. Other than that, they were the same length.

If you go back a few pages I posted some pictures of the new ones. I think Nissan kept the same housing but changed the internal spring (higher rating), but earlier revisions of the hatch spring housing was different.

I got mine replaced this week. All I did was talk to the maintenance manager about the problem. I then asked for an email so I could send the tech bulletin from Nissan that was linked here. She did some researched and called me 2 days later to tell me that the part was being ordered.

Huge difference since it was changed.

Thank you to everyone that posted the link.

My Z does not have the spoiler and have no problem with the hatch opening. I am wondering out loud if it is the weight of the spoiler that necessitates the heavier duty springs.

yes from what I can tell it is the weightof the spoilers. My new springs looked a tad bit longer than the stock ones.
