My guess is that you already have the Rev D ESCL/SLU. If you can get your head under the dash, you should be able to see the label.

Nissan just called me today asking when I was going to fax them my receipt. I faxed it almost two weeks ago and even called to confirm they got it. She looks around and says oh i found it, such incompetence. Then she calls me 10 min later saying I need to take it to a Nissan dealer to close out the recall because I didnt get it repaired through NIssan. I said look at the F n reciept and you can see it was done at a Nissan dealership. Her reply, oh I'll have to call them in the morning. WTF, what kind of freaking morons do they have working for Nissan.

If I can convince Nissan to give me the Rev D SLU instead of installing it (they save the labour), how hard would it be to install. I don't like other people working on my car, especially at dealerships!!

What dealership did you take yours to?

Also, my letter says GT-R/370Z. Does this mean the GT-R is also affected?

OK guys, just got mine back from my local dealer yesterday. All seems fine so far. Very glad I didn't have the questionable service that some of you have had...very thankful.

So you guys recommend I pull the fuse anyway? I'm thinking I will, but just thought I'd ask.

Spoke to a different service advisor and they're ordering a new panel. I'm still kind of pissed off, but at least it seems like they're trying to make it up. They said the tech is gonna get written up...whatever that means.

In regard to add on services, I really don't understand why they run their business this way, always trying to squeeze money out of you. If they were actually honest to everyone, they'd get more repeat business. I guess it's easier to scam people that don't know any better.

I hear you. Good to hear they are taking care of the situation. Did they at least throw in some free oil changes?

Written up?.......that mechanic should be fired on the spot!! He obviously does not give a ****. That really pisses me off.

Regarding the other services, again I hear you. I totally agree with you, if they act honestly, they will get business and eventually repeat business. They need to EARN that trust.

I am very fortunate. I have a great relationship with my dealership and especially their service dept. They have definitely earned my trust and subsequently, my business. I trust them until they give me a reason not to. So far so good. I wish everyone would have this type of relationship with their dealership.

Again, good luck and all the best to you.

I ordered online a Rev D to replace my Rev A version steering lock back in March of 2012. I had it installed at my local Nissan dealership before I actually suffered a failure. No problems with it since. I have sent off a request (including scans of my receipts) to Nissan North America asking for a full refund of the cost of the steering lock and the labor charged by the Nissan Service department to install it. I'll update when I get a response of whether or not I am successful.

According to the campaign, as long as a dealershit did the repair, they SHOULD refund you

UPDATE: After receiving no response from my email to Nissan North America, I then received the service campaign notice in the mail. I promptly contacted Nissan North America and explained to them that I had already replaced my steering wheel lock unit before it crapped out on me. I explained that I had retained all my receipts for the steering wheel lock and the cost to have the Nissan service department near me remove the old lock and put the new one in and requested they reimburse my expense.

Nissan North America made me take my Z back to the Nissan Service department to verify the correct steering wheel lock was installed. Then the warranty rep at the Nissan Dealership submitted my claim into the system and I provided copies of all my receipts.

Today I received a check from Nissan North America for both the cost of the steering wheel lock that I purchased myself and for the cost of installation that was charged by my local Nissan Service department.

Does anyone know what revisions of the steering lock are recalled, is it all of A, B, and C? (D is the replacement?)

I moved so probably missed my letter if I got one.. I guess I will take it in to the dealer tomorrow and see.
