Any of you guys experiencing any problems with your SmartTop? Mine seems to have crapped out. Was working fine for a couple of days. Then it just stopped working. And it was while the top was down. My top wouldn't move at all! I couldn't even put it up. I eventually got the top up but It seems may have a loose connection or something. The top indicator light in my gauge cluster keeps randomly blinking now and I the top doesn't go up or down. I need to figure out how I'm going to get the rear hatch open so I can look at the device or uninstall it.

Just curious if anyone else has had any issues like this at all.

Read your owner's manual - it's your friend. It tells you how to manually open the hatch.

I actually did go to the Owners Manual to figure out how to do that. Had to remove some of the carpet covering in the trunk area and then there were these two metal wires you have to yank on to release the top storage lid. I actually couldn't get it to release no matter how hard I pulled on them. Maybe I was doing it wrong. Anyways, lucky enough after trying that for a while I just tried the top again and it started working again (but doesn't now, luckily I have the top up now).

I haven't had time to look into this but I plan to tonight. I'll let you know if my attempt to check all the wires and maybe reinstall the thing works or not. I'm a little frustrated. Hope I didn't get a bad unit or wiring harness.

Well I haven't reached out to them yet. I want to go through my install process again to make sure its not something I did wrong or a loose connection somewhere. After I go through and check everything and if it still doesn't work then I will send them and email to see what they say.

No problems here, mine's been working fine. I'd check your fuse (if you haven't already) both in line & at the box (presuming that's where you ran your line to). If it's not there, I'd be suspicious of one of the line quick-connectors, as those seemed to be a pain when I put them on.

Just put mine in this afternoon. 39 minutes for the install.

I love it. Still have to get the windows doing what I want but everything else is great...

Kirkster... glad you hear you got your installed and all is good. It really is sweet huh?

Well I am happy to report that I now got mine working again too! Took a look at it this afternoon and went through and checked all the connections. Now it seems to be communicating with everything correctly and its working as it should. I think it just had a loose connection at one of the wire clamps is my guess. Took it for a little drive and tried to hit as many bumps as I could to see if anything would come loose again. All seems to be good now. Man, this mod is just a dream to have installed in the car, when all is working correctly. I hope it stays working properly. The pain in the a$$ and what concerns me is that when its not making a clear connection the top doesn't work at all, and if you can't get the top to move you can't get into the rear easily. If I was to get caught in a rain storm and I got a loose connection, that would really suck. Knocking on wood over here hoping that doesn't happen again.

But yes... you all should get this thing. Its awesome!

Hi all, not sure if I am the first in the UK to install one, but everything went well, and functions work when in the car, e.g. from the button, but cannot get the functions to work with the remote ?? Any idea's would be great ..

Someone mentioned fuses, but I guess if everything works from the car, then this could not be the problem ??

I have sent an email to M4C support so will see what they say, but maybe you guys saw this and fixed it ??

Many thanks in advance
Bubba

Did you go through and set your custom settings on the 7 Functions that are programmable? Check out the chart at the bottom of the page on the link below. Do you have Function 3 set correct?

mods4cars product manual

Also... I noticed that the timming of the tripple button press has to be just right. You can't do it too fast (which is too bad, it would be a lot easier to just be able to triple click). You have to push the button at about 1 second intervals or a lot of times it won't work, or just the windows go down and it doesn't register the 3rd click. Hope that helps.
