I am not going to lie to you though, it was very difficult drilling holes in my brand new car. I got up at 5:30 in the morning after not being able to sleep knowing it was sitting in the living room waiting for holes to be drilled. My wife said "I am glad I was asleep!" I told her it was about a three hour install. One hour for the actual work and two hours to get over the nausea.

I still owe you guys an DIY write up but I just haven't had time. I will get to it. Subscribe to my spoiler link a few posts below and I will update that with a link when I do.

Congrats and enjoy!!!
It just seems that only 4 bolts can't do a very good job of securing this spoiler to the trunk lid. How are the bolts distributed? One on each of the four "uprights"? Two each on the outers? Two each on the inners?

Are there gaskets on the bottom of the uprights or do they sit directly on the clearcoat of the trunk lid?

The bolts are one each on the 2 uprights and 2 outers. 2 on top of the trunk and 2 on the down slope at the back. It also has 2 sided tape that I will basically be outlining the underside of the wing with. The wing seemed very strong when I test mounted it with the bolts but the tape will add extra security.

Can't wait until you make the guide. I am also quite troubled about drilling holes in the car. Does that mean you have visible bolts in the trunk?

Drilling the holes in the top of the trunk wasn't really the part that made me nervous. It was access holes in the trunk space. The way that you mark the actual holes is a no brainer. Marking the access holes is a bit more challenging because of the contoured sheet metal inside the lid. I lined them up visually and that worked out fine but I have another idea for marking them that I will publish in the DIY. The location is not hyper critical though because you are just sticking a 1/4" drive extension through it with a small socket.

There is a significant gap between the external and internal surface of the trunk lid. Two of the holes are behind the carpeted cover on the trunk lid. The other two holes just outside that cover. I used a couple of black interior button caps from the auto parts store with a small bead of silicone around them to cover/finish the holes. They look like they belong there and if I didn't tell you what they were, you probably wouldn't notice them. The most important thing will be to adequately seal the holes around the 4 bolts to ensure that no water/moisture can get in or around them.

That's great information. I am ordering the part in the next few days and will let you guys know how the installation goes.

You will love it. Changes the entire rear profile of the car.

I will try and get a full write up done before you have it. I don't have many pictures because it was about 100% humidity the morning that I did the install and as soon as I brought the camera outside the lens fogged. Took almost 20 minutes to normalize and, at that point, I wasn't waiting.

Yeah... I'd be interested in knowing about performance and installation...

Have you noticed any decline in performance of this shorter antenna?
Was it easy to install?

Takes all of 30 seconds to install, and I actually saw an increase in the signal strength in my area

Stupid question but how do you take the factory antenna off in the first place? I tried unscrewing it but didn't want to force it too hard. Do I need to take off the cloth cover from inside the trunk? I searched for threads but couldn't find any in the DIY section, if there's a link please help post/PM, thanks

Like beach I have drilled my trunk for the SS spoiler. And just like him I went nuts being paranoid over drilling the holes. The kit has 4 small alignment tabs that stick to the wing, you tape them to the car when you get it set properly. Lift the wing and your template is there to show where to drill. Use a step drill for interior holes so you don't drill though the outside of the trunk. You will be happy with you results if you take your time. Mine is in primer cause I want to get mine painted flat black. cannot wait to get it done and post pics.
