Sales in the US was only about 7338 in 2012 according to wikipedia. Insurance is higher because parts and repairs run more expensive, say almost 3x of my Civic which translates to $1100 a year on the Z for me, no infractions and I'm an older multi vehicle owner. The Z is 100% Japanese made (according to the sticker). You should be able to get a Z for 6% to 10% below MSRP, depending upon the dealer. They are usually getting sales incentives they don't tell you about.

took me a year and a half to buy the car and I kept coming back to test drive another. Always loved it but yeah, it was that "something" that held me back. Finally I said **** it and bought the damn thing. Very happy with it. But it also helps that I love small cars. Just depends on what you are looking for like everyone else has already said.
