Funny, and true thing.

My 370z costs less to insure than my Frontier, and our Civic costs the most.

Why? Z gets no mileage. Frontier also gets no mileage, but it's a 5000lb brick I guess, that and it has 4WD and can tow things. Civic is the daily driver/work transporter.

wishihadnav 04-15-2010 05:20 PM

^^reason why your Z may cost less to insure than the other vehicles is probably because the way they are rating the drivers on each vehicle...the Z is more than likely rated as pleasure use with minimal mileage/usage while your other vehicles are the commuters..the rated commuters have more exposure to accidents therfore tend to cost more to insure.

2009 370z
2009 Murano
2010 Sentra
2010 Versa

State Farm

LinPark 04-15-2010 07:38 PM

I use AAA and have these rates:

'06 Honda Odyssey Touring - $45/month
'10 Nissan 370Z - $50/month
'78 Datsun 280Z - $20/month

Full coverage with $500 dedect on the new cars - minimum on the 280Z - when I got the 370Z I tried to put some kind of classic car insurance on the 280Z since I'll only be putting a few hundred miles a year on it but the cheapest they had was $250 a year - seems high to me. Anyone have experience with keeping really low cost minimal insurance on a classic car?

PrObLy 04-15-2010 07:46 PM

I'm 25 and live in the Chicagoland area.

Through Geico I pay $66 per month total to insure my Z and my '94 Regal GS.

The trick is having the Z as a secondary "leisure" car (still full coverage and $500 deductible) whereas I only have to have liability on the Regal since it isn't worth much.

d02808045 04-15-2010 08:50 PM

Everyone seems to have low monthly on their car insurance. I pay $183/m for both 2010 vehicles (Z and RX350). Full coverage on both and have rental/roadside assistance/toll and labor, D$500. I used USAA, I think it's high...i have couple points on my DL but that was like more than 4 yrs ago...wonder if they still count that....

I see a lot of men your age around my area driving sport cars and even cars like TL and they drive recklessly. You are still a man

elmz 04-16-2010 11:50 AM

Wow you guys have some GREAT rates! I'm 29 with Farmers $128/month $500 deductible 09 370 Base+Sport in San Diego, CA. No tickets w/ 1 claim(my fault) within 5 years. I think I'm going to call around now...

JACKPAC 04-16-2010 04:15 PM

I guess we should also state if we have touring package or not as my insurance had the categories separated.

lando76 04-23-2010 01:31 PM

I am 34 years old, my record is clean. I have a deductible of $500 my coverage is 150k/300k which is very good. I was quoted $508 every six months. Mercury Insurance Company.

Im 27 and have never had a claim and the cheapest I can get even with all kinds of discounts and pleasure driver is $204 a month. I would kill to pay anything under $200. Louisiana sucks balls.

whoady4shoady's right.

I am with Allstate, have been since age 18, and I pay a whopping $630.00 for a whole year, and I have high end coverage. BUT.... I also have my house - w/a 1,000,000.00 added umbrella, and my other car, and have a spotless record, and some advantage by being a long term customer, so I get all the discounts available.

When I started out, I payed ultra high premiums too.

Keep your nose clean, and your day will come.

My advise is to absolutely shop around for rate, but don't skimp on the coverage. Real good high end coverage is not that much more expensive than the cheap-o with lousy coverage. And the only time you'll realize this is when - if - you need your insurance. Don't find out the hard way.

When I did need to use Allstate, they always came through for me with flying colors, and that's important. So also research the insurance company well before you sign on.

4r3s 04-23-2010 10:32 PM

shopping around is really important. I did some calling around today and for 6 months same coverage I was quoted $580 to $2100. I was absolutely shocked at the $2100 which was from metlife and included the discount through my work. The metlife salesman was the most pushy too saying "oooh thats a really good rate for that car, you should definetly take this!" I followed up with a chuckle and said no thanks I think we've spoke long enough.

cossie1600 04-25-2010 11:36 AM

Insurance agents are annoying, I prefer to call a 800 number online.

TongMan 04-08-2011 09:29 AM

How much do you pay for insurance for your 370z?

Please post your annual premium rate for your single 370z. Please exclude the addition of other cars in your policy. Include collision and comprehensive deductible. Include coverage and monthly payment.

*I am aware of location, discounts, hook ups, age, sex, multiple car discounts, home owners, etc. Just please post exactly how much you are paying for your 370z on your policy papers.

I'll start.

2010 Nissan 370z

Liberty Mutual Ins - Single/Unmarried - 27 years old
Liability: 25/50/25
Medical: 5,000
Uninsured Motorist: 25/50
Collision deductible: $1000
Comprehensive: $500

Annual Payment: $1409.00
Monthly: $117.41

No points, tickets, accidents.
BTW, I searched the forum but found no thread to this specificity.

About $320 a month. Full Coverage on a 2010 370Z and full coverage on a leased 2010 Versa.
Single male 24 years old. One accident (got a** ended, but that was about 5 years ago) and I think one speeding ticket.

Hopefully your car insurance rates should go down once you hit 25.

red6spd 07-30-2011 08:13 PM

Bored at home so I figured I would bump this thread since I got a new rate. Was paying 337/month for full coverage on my Z and a leased 2010 Versa. One ticket about to go away, defensive driver discount, and only one accident 0 my fault. 24 year old single male. Just switched to Geico and I'm not paying 212 a month. Over $100 month savings. I'm happy.

RiCharlie 10-06-2011 04:32 PM

insurance costs

I am just curious and hope to start a new and popular thread..
What do you pay for insurance each year?
My wife and I have a liability of 300,000 bodily injury per accident and $300,000 injury against uninsured motorists. She has a ten year old accord.,.i have a Z and all together we pay $1700 a year,,

Are we paying too much? What do you pay?

Vaughanabe13 10-06-2011 04:53 PM

Of course you are paying too much. It helps make up for the schmucks who have a ton of wrecks and pay too little.

Right now, $1100 every 6 months for my 2002 G20 and my 2011 Z06. 25/Male/Single/Louisiana. Full coverage on the Z, liability on the G20. Right now I have no substantial liquid assets to sue for, and I have great health insurance, so my limits are not sky-high.
