At your age and 2 violations, one being a speeding ticket (you don't mention the severity) I'm not surprised by that price at all. I do insurance for a living and when a company looks at a 19 year old male and a 370z the prices are going to be high. Then when you throw violations in there you're flirting with some pretty high insurance rates.

There is no simple answer to this.
Everything is a factor with insurance, age, car, location, average age of owners (who own the same car), accidents per 100 cars, etc.

Your best bet is to stop at a few local big name companies, Allstate, Nationwide, State Farm, etc and get some price comparisons. Then shop at a few local insurance companies, they can usually be a bit cheaper but might lack certain options/features of the bigger companies.

The OP should narrow his focus on this question. Since this is a world-wide forum, answers will be as varied as the colors of the rainbow.

Try moving the question to the OP's specific region. Then age, history, etc. can more closely be matched to an "estimate" of what the OP can "expect" to pay.:twocents:

Perfect driving record.

sonic370 02-16-2012 08:39 PM

remember they check your credit score now which will effect your cost.
anyway 2 car discount clean record
2009 370Z and 2010 Rouge 180.00 a month.
which think is to much. I'm shopping around when it's renewal time

DarkJak 02-16-2012 09:07 PM

18, male in TN, USA.

So far, a perfect driving record as well as a good student discount, plus it's the 4th car on the plan.

Around $1700 a year :/

our G37 is "only" $1250. Both are on the same coverage. Full, with 500 or 750 deductible (not sure if we raised it to 750 after insuring the Z)

Currently, it's uninsured and garaged though, which will have saved $1000 by the end of April.

edub370 02-16-2012 10:36 PM

well i just got out of college... owned a CBR600RR, which i enjoyed... way too much sometimes.... you can do the math

i pay so much a month...

DYNAZOR 02-16-2012 10:49 PM

Male, 60 years old, retired.

1k deductable collision.
1k decductable comprehensive.
Additional vehicles insured: 2003 Harley

Premium (2012 370Z only): $844.40 per year, GEICO

The premium increased by $255 per year after switching the policy from my 3 years+ old 2009 V-6 Mustang, same coverages. Not too bad, I think.

jonbig04 02-20-2012 02:06 AM

Are you guys kidding me?!

24 years old, one ticket (right on red when I wasn't supposed to) almost 5 years ago, $500 deduct. I pay $2,400 every 6 months!

Mecinoid 02-20-2012 05:19 AM

$272 per six month 100/300/50 with a mil rider. Mercury Insurance... Progressive / Allstate were too expensive this time around. I had Mercury for years until their rate went up.... Went to Allstate for over 15 years. Now I'm back with Mercury. You have to shop the rates. But, make sure by checking with Consumer Reports that they pay out in an accident. Allstate just called me on Friday and said they think they can beat the rates I'm getting now. Too bad they could do that a year ago and save me a lot of time switching away.
I guess I'll let them quote again.... I hate insurance companies. State Farm we'll that's another story.
$500 ded / $100 comp / unisured motorist / multicar discount/ good driver/ homeowner discount and continuity discounts.

What I thought was amazing though is that my Motorhome which cost three times as much as my Z car only cost $350 a YEAR to insure with the same coverage and I drive it more.

BTW- The comment about 80 year olds having cheap insurance.... We'll lets just say my Dad insurance keeps going up... He's in that range. No tickets no accidents and been with same company for 50 years plus.

scottIN 02-20-2012 06:47 AM

State Farm Indiana
41 YO / perfect record, another car & home on the same policy
100 / 300 / 50 and a $1000 deductible.

$650 / yr.

Crazy thing is that it's only $20 / yr. more than my 2006 Ridgeline was. Tells me that it's really not about the vehicle but the individual (record, credit, etc.). I really thought I was going to get nailed when I bought this. It's actually lower than my wife's 2011 Mini Countryman All4S. LOL!

ImportConvert 02-20-2012 10:36 AM

I just checked what my 370Z will run me. Around $130-140/mo full coverage w/ free replacement w/in 3 years, vanishing $400 deductible, and accident forgiveness.

26/m/Louisiana

2 cars, 1 renter's insurance policy.

(FWIW, Z06 is running me around $170/mo w/same).

Drodriguez06 02-20-2012 10:40 AM

187 a month
24 years old

TerribleONE 02-20-2012 10:41 AM

64 a month. 2 cars and 20 years old.. Z is my secondary car..

Zeek 02-20-2012 11:12 AM

I'm probably over insured but:
Washington state.
74 years old.
Squeaky clean driving record.

Liability: 50/100/50
Personal injury Protection including income loss 200/wk/1 yr.
Comprehensive: $50 deductible.
Collision: $500 deductible.
Emergency Road Service.
Car Rental and Travel Expense.
Underinsured bodily injury.
Underinsured property damage.

Total premium 6 months $419.29 = $69.88/month.

gsxr750 02-20-2012 01:34 PM

Try geico they are basically the cheapest hands down for the 370z and beat out all the other top companies, by at least 30% .

AhadV 02-20-2012 02:06 PM

wow...
um..18
Texas
2 speeding tickets on record
1 car accident

In december one of my tickets comes off my record so the insurance will drop even more but compared to everyone else on this thread I think I'm paying top dollar..
State farm was giving me a great rate on my rx8 but after a series of tickets they dropped me as a client.

since this is my weekend car and dont drive more than 7500miles per year i have it under 'leisure car' insurance. check with your agent if they offer something similar. other than the max milage of 7500miles, the coverage is the same. one must have a primary car (dd) with full coverage to get this though. my G is my primary car and covered 280 for 6months so still very cheap. :D

i am with a major insurance company covered for house/2 life/3cars/music instruments.

I was told that CA does not have that mileage thing. I did put in 5000 miles/6 months and this is a 'leisure car' when I did my insurance. Though, don't really know if it had an effect. I'll call them again. I am looking at some of the rates that people get here, it seems like mine isn't bad at all. I pay $176/month for two cars with full coverage. I should take out the full coverage on my Integra though. Just debating if I should or not.

What coverages do you have though? Any company can give you a dirt cheap policy with the lowest limits and leaving out optional coverages...

My coverages are 4 times the basic legal minimums, in my state, I learned early on that its easy to exceed the minimum state required limits, specially when a personal injuries are sustained. So its better to get the higher coverages.

Prefered driver plan, with no accidents or tickets.

I also have only $200 deductables on collision, 0 deductable on glass, extended waranties on 2 of the cars and full coverage on all 3 cars.

Basically when searching for competitive rates I found all the old established companies to be 30-40% higher than Geico.

Currently it seems Geico is the cheapest for cars and Progressive for all motorcycles.

Factors that can also effect rates are where you live and the laws in that state, some companies can not write policies in certain states or states that have limits on what someone may sue you for.

When I was single and only had a small home and 1 car, Allstate actually beat Geico, by a lot, but in my current criteria, Geico had the cheapest rates.

UNKNOWN_370 02-22-2012 10:18 AM

I'm paying $100.02 a month for both my 2011 370z and my 2012 altima 2.5s. My insurance company raised my rate a month after I signed the contract and then they cancelled my insurance when I didn't pay the difference. When I said I was going to see a lawyer I got my money back and a reduction of payment of 60%. Insurance companies are so FOS. NOW I'M PAYING. $50 bucks a car full coverage.

Stick it to da man!:icon18:

hummmm... that could be. insurance is kinda tricky since you dont know if you will really use it or not. :D hahahaha.

i could completely remove my Z from insurance over the hibernating months but it would only save me like $120+ for the near 3months and the hassle of turning the coverage on/off is asking for clerical error to happen along the way.

even if your agent got it right, their headquarters might not... ive had instances like this a few times :ugh2: so i check the policy very carefully when i make any adjustments.

25/50/50? Do you own a house? If so I'd hope you'd increase your limits...
