21/m/no tickets ever but I totaled my 1st Camaro when I was 16.

I'll initially be buying the car in suburban PA, but my job is in Chicago so eventually the insurance will get transfered there (i know its considerably more expensive)...unless I can somehow stay on my parents plan or keep the car registered in PA

You will probabbly pay more for the monthly insurance then the car payment. Anyway you can get a quote online. GL

Called my insurance agent to compare a few cars... apparently High Point does not count a 370 as a high performance car and therefore 6 months is not bad at all from them. I think I was quoted at around 5-600?

Consider right now I'm paying $900 every 6 for a 07 G5 which is a pube compared to the Z.

spearfish25 12-28-2009 10:12 PM

Wow, you guys pay a ton.

I'm married, great credit, no tickets. Paying $571/6months with USAA.

Just the Z?

I will be paying with USAA around $790 for 3 cars, 2 full cover and the truck with liability and my deductible are low.

Consider I am 21 -- that pretty much explains away my high rates. Also New Jersey.

Nice. How old are you? I'm 29, wife is 26. Both my Z and her Altima are covered for $950/6mo.

Yea I did some checks on the Statefarm Website and it seems like a 370 would cost about $205/month in Chicago but About $160 at my parents house in PA. I'm guessing theres no way to keep the insurance at my parents house for more than the first year?

Also, seems like a lot of you guys have USAA...are all of you in the Armed forces? or is there another way to get that coverage?

Didn't think of the premium difference based on location. That definitely is a factor.

The only way to have USAA is to be in the services or have a family member who is/was.

Nationwide-Full tort coverage with all extras for $69/month. Clean record, semi-rural PA, 61 years old, top credit rating, no kids, and all my coverages through same company. I figure this price, for the coverage I'm getting, is about as good as you can get, give or take a couple of bucks either way.

kannibul 12-29-2009 08:07 AM

That above info is kind of interesting...

Insurance score - therefore, if you buy a car and have to finance it, you're alreayd a notch or two towards paying more for insurance than the guy that pays cash.

Zeto 12-29-2009 09:07 AM

I pay $135 a month through geico :D

emaddox84 12-29-2009 10:17 AM

About $130/mo with USAA for full coverage.

This is not necessarily true. Insurance companies usually only order credit at new business or after 3 to 5 years. Thus, if you already have insurance with your carrier and you purchase a new car, they will likely rate the car using the insurance score from your initial insurance purchase.

Check with your state department of insurance for laws about credit rating. Rating based on credit is heavily regulated and each state is different when it comes to what information is used and how often credit can and can not be reordered.

Liquid_G 12-29-2009 11:04 AM

Paying roughly 90/mo for my Z with Country Financial. Although now that there is snow in Chicago, and I'm not driving the Z, I've had the coverage dropped to basically storage coverage (comprehensive only) and paying 90 bux for 6 months.
Your homeowners insurance will not cover your car if your garage burns down etc...

AMack 12-29-2009 01:48 PM

Does anyone know the rules/laws regarding moving and updating your insurance? I'll be buying my car in PA and within a month or two I'll be moving to Illinois (Chi-town). As it'll be registered and insured initially in PA, can it stay like that for the first year until I have to get reinspected/registered in Illinois or do I have to change those things over immediately upon moving into a place in Chicago?

GZ3 12-29-2009 03:48 PM

92/month full coverage 250 deduct, thru nationwide:tup:

OldGuy 12-29-2009 04:05 PM

I've always done just that (for 13 winters now) with my Miata. Great way to save some bucks, though the agents lose commissions and have tried to make it a little difficult for me to arrange.

Sorry. Above message refers to suspending coverage (except for very inexpensive comprehensive and theft) through the winter months.

Mid 40s, no tickets.

gleonard 12-29-2009 10:22 PM

I pay $950 for 6 months for 4 cars (two full coverage including Z)

I'm 33 with no (convicted) traffic violations in over 12 years.

Diezul 12-30-2009 04:16 AM

I pay about $70 a month for full coverage of my 370Z and just liability for my truck. I'm 24 and live is Southern California. Another weird thing is that I switched my 370Z from pleasure vehicle to daily driver status to be more honest and it actually lowered my rate, they sent me a check for $10 because I paid in advance for 6 months.

Insurance Rate Premiums

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone recommends a good insurance that offers a good rate and good coverage. I current have insurance with All State but I feel like I pay a lot per month so I am looking to shop around. I even claimed the car getting an annual mileage of below 3000, but its still pretty high? Since everyone here has a 370z, what company do you use and how are your premiums?

vipor 04-15-2010 01:16 PM

Call around, different companies, different rates, different applications.

wishihadnav 04-15-2010 01:25 PM

rates will depend on your dmv record, clue report, years of experience, usage, mileage, and vehicle.

daleks 04-15-2010 01:28 PM

It's so subjective. I get all sorts of discounts for having 2 cars, being a homeowner, being married, signing up for automatic payments, etc. Insurance companies definitely compete so just call around and don't be shy about asking for discounts. There are common industry terms so be sure you're comparing apples to apples too. Also, don't just go for the cheapest amount. A few dollars per month for better coverage/services will help if you get into a bind.

The funny thing is out of all the sports cars I've owned over the past few years, my Nismo 370Z is the cheapest even before discounts. In order of most expensive to least expensive it has gone 2007 Civic Si > 2008 350Z > 2009 Nismo 370Z.

Modshack 04-15-2010 01:36 PM

It's the freakin car and the demographics that buy it........Just read this forum and you'll know why rates on it are sky high. Thank your street racing buddies with more testosterone than sense... Twice what it was on my '08 Vette and I'm in the lowest risk Age group you can imagine (60 +)...

seb 04-15-2010 01:41 PM

Get an insurance broker to find you the best rate for the coverage you want. Saved me a ton of money and didn't charge me for the work. They get referral cash from the insurance companies, so no money out of pocket for you.

kenchan 04-15-2010 01:51 PM

i suggest you get some quotes elsewhere and send it to your allstate agent and tell him to match it or come below. otherwise you'll switch. you'll be surprised how much excess $ they have on you sometimes.

vipor 04-15-2010 02:03 PM

$90/mo with low deductibles, average miles, rentals, towing, etc. I'm 27.

kenchan 04-15-2010 02:20 PM

yah, that's high... but you're only 27 and dont own a house or multiple cars, etc. you'll get your break someday.

SkyZ 04-15-2010 03:10 PM

dannnng son 90 a month? i WISH i had those rates XD. $330 a month on the worst coverage. then again i AM a student... 20... XD. still 90 a month is like a dream come true.

370zFORme!! 04-15-2010 03:18 PM

I pay $143.50/ month with AIS and I have my 370 and my fiances Sexterra on there so I receive a multi car discount. I (27) have a speeding ticket on my record and she (25) has a perfect driving record. I originally signed up with esurance when I purchased the car 2 months ago and they quoted me $165/month for the same coverage. One month later they shot my premium up to $277/month. Go with AIS, they have so many discounts its ridiculous. When I get married in 3 months, my agent said our premium will drop to under $100 a month. Sounds good to me!

True on all counts. I recently upped my coverage and lowered my deductibles to get me to that point. I think I was just shy of $80/mo beforehand. Oh and I have good credit too (not sure if USAA is one of the insurance companies that checks that or not)

When I had my 97 240sx I used to pay $340/mo for insurance. I was 19 with a completely clean record. That sucked.

Austin 04-15-2010 03:25 PM

I just received a qoute today. Full coverage, low deductible, no rental car, multi car and house discount, 1 speeding ticket ever, 3 slow-rolling through stop signs/lights, 32yo came back $97/mo.

This sounded a bit high to me at first, but from what I have researched, it appears to be not too bad.

vipor 04-15-2010 03:29 PM

When you say "low deductible" do you mean $250 or what?

Seems high to me... is that for both cars?

$500 deductible. For the Jeep and the 370z (quoted as a roadster), both with the same coverage, would put me at $116/mo combined.
