I need leather, and I need sports package. So now I'm looking at an almost fully loaded Z (Touring + Sports) 36-38k
I was hoping to spend closer to the 35k mark.
Thats pretty much how I feel. At that point I would like Navi too, but $40k is just too overpriced. I guess I'll have to try it out and see if I can justify it then.

$40k is waaay too much. I think my brother paid about that much for his G37 sport coupe, minus navi.

What bothers me is that if I got the base/sport and dropped in better seats and revamped the stereo, I'd be getting near the $40k price anyway. Honestly, the entire Touring/Nav decision for me is based on how nice the Bose stereo is. I know the quality will be amazing, but can I feel the subs?

It's a safe bet that the Bose stereo will suck.

Not sure if you know or not but within the 350z community the Bose stereo is appropriately named "Blose".

In defense of Bose. "Blose" applies to the systems they used in the G35 and 350Z. But Bose is really hit or miss. The system in my '97 QX4 still has rich base and crisp highs, and it hits (for being 12 years old).
The Bose premium systems in the M35/45 sound amazing for a factory system, one of my favorite systems out there. I'd say it is on par with the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus LS460.

You might want to check with the G37 guys who opted for premium sound, as it would likely be on a similar level to the 370Z Bose system.

Not all Bose are "Blose"

My sentiments exactly. If you get touring, you might as well get the nav since it integrates everything so nicely.
But 40k seems overpriced.
