Default Is the NissanUSA Inventory Check Accurate

Does anyone know if the nissanusa.com web site dealer inventory checker is accurate? I'm getting closer to being ready to buy (July/August) and I'm constantly checking inventory on their website to see who has the model I would like, but it seems 6MTs are be slowly disappearing from dealer lots. Just want to know if I should panic.

Default I'm glad . . .

I'm glad someone else noticed this problem.

Heck, . . . I check the inventory on Nissan's
website almost daily to see what is on my
4 local dealers lots. In the beginning, the
results of searches using Nissan's website
was spot on. I could not believe sometimes.
Once, . . the site actual had the car listed
as the dealer was unloading the car from the
trucking company.

But, . . here recently, . . about the last 4 - 5
weeks, Nissan's website has been unreliable.
I am really dissapointed. One of the 4 dealers
had a car that I would have been interested in
but did not know they had it. I drove by and
saw it but it was already sold. I told them it was
not on their inventory list from Nissan.

My take on all of this comes down to being on
their lot. Nissan has stop listing the 370Z through
their (nissan) website. Nissan and the dealers
want people to come to their lots and look around
at all their cars. Plain and simple. The cars (370z) that are
listed now is old stock, not new deliveries.

The end.

.

Long story short, I went to a dealer to see a car that was on their inventory. Car wasn't there. I asked why. They said that the car is available locally, so they put it in their inventory because they know they can get it.

the cars on the online inventory is just what they post up......most of the time they don't post it up or update it enough...you gotta call and meet with all the dealerships to find a perfect Z for you...

We update every night, but if I have a car that is hard to get, I can mark it pending and it won't show up in the search or inventory. It won't show up in our inventory , it will show up still on NissanUsa, I would just call around and let you fingers do the driving

Dear Lou,

Please answer this question about Nissan's website. Is it
up to the Dealers to input inventory they receive from
Nissan onto Nissan's website ?

Somehow that seems backwards to me. It seems that
once a 370z is shipped to a dealer, it would automatically
be put into the inventory system for the public to view.

Thanks

Tom

I'm happy that somebody asked about this, I honestly was thinking how could I possibly get my car none of the Nissan dealers have it.

Tom,
Nissan puts the inventory up on Nissanusa.com. I am assuming this is what your talking about. Yes they handle it. But when a car gets traded, it is up to the dealer to relieve the inventory to the trading dealer. This is where part of the problem lies. They could be showing a vehilce that was traded 6 months ago. Our inventory goes into a system (ours is reynolds) that is up to the dealer to use, that system has no vision with nissan. So after a car is sold or traded, nissan doesn't know. Unless A. you report is sold with nissan or B. relieve the inventory to the trading delaer. I have seen cars that were sold a year ago and my employees forgot to report it sold to Nissan. So hence they were still in inventory and still on NissanUSA.com. I hope that explains it a little better.

Default Thank you . . . Lou !

Dear Lou,

Yes, this explains a lot. Thanks, as always, for
your professionalism and time on reporting this
issue. Keep up the great work. Still looking for a 370z.

p.s. (yes, . . it was the Nissanusa.com website
that I was referring to). I knew that you would
figure that out. Lou, you know us.

Thanks Lou, and great to have you on this Forum.

If I'm not mistaken, there are "tricks" and such that a dealership can use to have a specific vehicle not show up on the NissanUSA website.

My dealership, for example, posted up a white 370z that was sold, so it didn't show up in their inventory. When I drove by multiple times, it was still there untouched, unsold. They deliberately did that because they wanted the customer to come to the dealership in person and they could reel them in. That, and they didn't want that vehicle to be traded off to another dealership.

There aren't tricks, they can report it sold to Nissan and it won't show up. But it will cost them to reverse the sale ($100) and then report it again sold to the real owner. You rarely see that. That makes no sense, why wouldn't you want people to see your car on a National Website. They are losing out on a lot of online exposure.
