My god yes. It's horrible. Washing my car scratches it. Waxing my car with brand new clean microfibre/cheesecloth scratches it. My high end detailer said everything he had tried to scratch it.

This color looks amazing but is way difficult to keep up

x10000

Absolutely love the way it looks when it is clean and immaculate, the problem is that keeping it that way is insanely hard with this color. Every little swirl shows up if you don't use the right stuff to clean it and it looks pretty bad when its filthy (like after raining dirty).

When its clean I love it dearly, when it isn't I wish I would've waited a few months until the dark blue ones came out. Lately I've been contemplating a wrap..

Never had that problem with my Black Cherry Z. But it is true...with any car, especially dark-colored cars, you have minimize the amount of paint-touching. Two-bucket wash, California Duster, Korean microfiber towels (not Chinese...and most are Chinese), dry with leaf blower not towels, all the usual stuff described in Junkman's detailing threads.

If you're getting that much scratching, you're doing it wrong.

i agree... but also disagree... i'm very careful while detailing... been detailing cars for around 30 years... i've never seen a paint surface this sensitive... ever... and my rx8 was black... proper technique is very important but something that's exposed to everything should be more durable than it is... just my

Your complaints about quality detailing equipment scratching the paint of a Z are unique IME, even on this internet site where complaints are one of the main reasons for posting.
